Are you a racist if you find humour in a racist joke, sexist etc.

Nope, of course not.

Is everyone that has ever told or laughed at a Maddie Mccann joke a pedophile..

People who try acting all overly politically correct are usually not expressing their own opinion, but just saying what they think people want to hear.  (imo)

Depends on the joke.

If it's gratuitous use of the n-word then it's wholly unnecessary and unfunny due to all the history and connotations to the word. Use of the word in any context can be offensive.

If you're just playing on cultural/national stereotypes then it's a bit moronic but often quite funny.

If you're making race the sole issue within the joke then  is probably appropriate.

I think some people are quick to cry 'racist' when really the joke isn't about race at all, but just happens to involve it.

I have black white yellow brown and even some jewish friends and they are all the same. They don't take a joke about asaians speaking english rusing tro mrany rars. Everyone takes the piss and has a laugh. If you are going to deport someone or you differentiate between people due to the colour of their skin etc thats racist.

tbf most racist/sexist/paedo jokes are tongue in cheek and intended to take the mick out of people that actually hold those views.

This is it for me, the jokes are often just playing off a stereotype and are so over the top and ridiculous that anyone that gets worked up about it isn't really directing their anger at the right person. Direct it at the racists that the joke is poking fun at.

Aye, that's the key.

With the majority of jokes they're quite obviously taking the piss... the problem is when you get into particularly near the knuckle racist jokes, there may or may not be an element of seriousness to what you're saying. You have to take it a bit more seriously for that very reason.

Is it racist to form an opinion from your life experinces? Say I was to state that I consider old Indian women to be the rudest people going and Black males to be the nicest/friendly, is that racist?

Depends.

Are all Indian woman inherently rude because they are Indian women, or do you believe it is because of the culture they're raised in and learned behaviour.

One is a question of race and one of culture.

If you believe the former then you'd be racist, yes.

If I find a joke funny, I'll laugh.

If that jokes is sexist, then maybe I'm a bit sexist...so what? Doesn't make me a wife-beater, does it?

Same goes for racist or homophobic jokes etc, surely?

The problem with defining people in absolute terms is that people are not defined in absolute terms.

If you laugh at a racist joke then you're not necessarily a racist, in that it doesn't mean you're going to pull a sheet over your head and go out and lynch someone, but the joke has appealed to the racist aspect of your character. Everyone has that within them, it's just the size and scale of it that varies. No-one can be in total control of their thoughts, it's how they act upon those thoughts that matters.

It also depends upon the person telling the joke, two people can tell the exact same joke and one may be being totally ironic and the other not.

"I was lying in bed sleeping the other night, when I woke up in the pitch black seeing my TV floating eerily in the air. So I jumped for my baseball bat shouting "Put down my TV you black scouse!""

In my opinion a joke like the joke above is borderline, and it would all come down to the way it was told.
