Dokko
!!!!! Bloody hell what a blast from the past, knew it almost word for word when it came on there despite not seeing it for 15-20 years! What's with bringing back old ads? The soap powder one 'Oh mum' and the aquafresh family cartoon one.

BlueStar
What's with bringing back old ads? The soap powder one 'Oh mum' and the aquafresh family cartoon one. Marketing experts claim that during times of financial crisis people go to the well established, familiar brands they know and trust - the ones that have been around longest. Businesses seem to have grasped this with both hands and they're furiously trying to let people know how long their brands have been around. So you get compilations of 100 years of Persil adverts, the Aquafresh thing, M&S have done out all their stores in traditional garb and run adverts about how they were the first people to employ women, the first store to have sell by dates etc, Sainsbury's have been re-issuing their 50s posters for the first self service shopping experience and so on. No idea if what these marketing experts have said has any truth to it or if it's just bollocks but everyone seems to be going all out on it, probably out of panic! Guest toonlass
Me and my brother regularly sing "The red car and the blue car had a race" all the way through when we are drunk. Sad, but true.

Interesting theory like, i wonder if it has made a difference, reckon so if everyone is doing it. I just immediately thought you cheap bastards, can't even splash the cash to make a new advert. Joey
I was in awe how amazing it was to see it again. Used to love it as a kid, don't you just love nostalgia.
pedro111
Eh!?!?, there was the exact same thread as this posted by Spider Jerusalem the other day and nobody but me bothered replying!!!! Just look down the first page!! I agree it is a class advert remember it well from my youth, 1989 was when it was first out I think. Fact is, most adverts were better back then, they need to bring loads back if you ask me like the coco pops for example and many many more. Most adverts these days are mundane s****. Spider Jerusalem
Thought mine had been hijacked there for a second!! Strange thing was on the Sunday night was the first time that I'd thought of the advert. One of the lads in the pub was lauding the vi text editor in Unix and asking me to explain the Korn shell to a pissed bloke, and said how he had some Newcastle thing pop up on his screen whenever he logged in. It got me thinking how I had my profile set to scroll through the entire 'Red Car and Blue Car' song in screen sized letters before I logged in. Then I got in pissed and saw that - thought I was going fucking mental!
Guest toonlass
They have changed the words slightly though. It used to be "but smart old blue" and they have changed it to "good old blue", and "He's looking for a treat, fluffy and right, cos he knows it won't spoil his appetite" and now its "cos he knows it'll taste just right". Wonder why they changed the words?

Maybe the claims of a chocolate bar being a light snack and not ruining your appetite don't stand up to modern scrutiny...
Chrissy Bee
We have a lot of laws about how junk food can be advertised. I guess they can't say it's smart to eat a fatty piece of cheap processed chocolate.
indi
Milky Ways dont taste the same as they used to, used to be LUSH. You can get the old-style ones in Peru. Which obviously helps you out loads.
