Big Geordie
Fellas My PC is fairly old, and runs on an AMD Athlon XP2600+ processor. Have had a couple of unexpected shutdowns over the last few days, so I installed an application called Speed Fan to monitor the CPU Temp. It's currently running at anywhere between 63-70C. Can anyone tell me is this is about right or am I gonna have to replace the heat sync sometime soon? Cheers.
Decky
Should be around 40C I think. 70 is critical, try lowering the brightness and uninstalling some background programs.

Andy
Put your hand on the naked flame of your fireplace. Note the heat. Ideally your computer should not be operating at this temperature.

Big Geordie
Yup. It's back up to 60C now, but then again - just booted up FM09. Will keep an eye on it.
