Colos Short and Curlies
Used to like it. Now find it soul destroying. Got a few interviews lined up though so looking hopeful that I'll be getting out soon enough.

Jill
Undecided. I know what I'm doing (90% of the time) and I'm fairly good at it. Wouldn't really fancy learning a whole new job, but day to day in my current it can be pretty boring at times. I do like the fact that I don't have to think about my job when I get home. And it pays the bills.. though the pay isn't great. I'd probably leave if something amazing came along - but it's not a great time to be changing job at the moment, so don't think I'd move just for the sake of it. AyeDubbleYoo
I like my field, but I hate my current company. Luckily I've just found a new job to start in the next few weeks, so back on track. The last year or so has taught me how important your working environment and colleagues are. I went from a good positive workplace to the complete opposite, and it was incredibly hard. ChezGiven
I like it but having worked full time since 1997 i could do with a sabbatical. We've just re-structured globally into 5/6 business units which has been massive upheaval and we are about to merge with another huge company in October. Add in the politics (and to be honest what people refer to as politics in corporate life is just a pretend grown-up euphemism for personal pettiness), the stressing over things that ultimately dont impact anyone outside the business and the intensity of work and its quite an fucked-up experience in corporate middle-management. I get to travel, see the world, earn some dollars, continuously learn and do an important and rewarding job but i can see that the money in particular acts like a trap, as you begin to be unable to see life without it, yets its a mirage, the real and important things in life dont need money. I was seriously planning to completely change my career, but I thought that would be a mistake based on one unlucky move. It was only my second company after uni, so I tried a completely different sector and environment. Backfired immensely, at least now I know the kind of company I want to work for. You sound like me, almost identical situation. The only difference is that my current workplace USED to be a great place to work, I was on an upward curve career wise and the people I worked with and for were brilliant. The top management changed, I got seconded to another company and now I'm back the atmosphere is black. Its a company which should be insulated against the recession and should be in a position to drive forward, instead all I do is fire fight and clean up the top brass mistakes (things such as signing an exlcusitivity agreement with a competitor which broke an agreement with a sister company and wiped out 90% of their international sales (their biggest growth market). Thought about going back to my last employer but they have a recruitment freeze on so had to look into the big bad world. Found some interesting opportunities out there with good long term prospects for working abroad, an ambition I had put on the back burner to be honest. Been a shit year for work and football for me. AfroP
some of the time I like it other like now when its quiet it gets to me a bit. cause at the moment if i'm sat doing nowt it may be seen as a sign that my position is'nt needed and redundency is sure to follow. and sometimes the lvl of stupidity from people I support is too much to take and makes me want to bang my head against teh wall so to andswer the question properly I like the work and the company, but I dont like the circumstances
AyeDubbleYoo
Been a shit year for work and football for me. Yep, been a tough 18 months workwise, so lucky I managed to find a new job. I literally knew on day one that I had made a mistake moving here, just had an overwhelming feeling it was wrong. I tried my best to be my normal self (come up with ideas, be positive etc) for the first 6 months or so... but the reaction was so bad I had to basically stop trying to preserve my sanity. Essentially I've had a 18 month break from work, sitting here doing almost nothing. You should see my postings decrease in the next couple of months! Mowen
It's alright. Get your boring bits, as with any job, but I'm learning lots as I go, being put in situations where I'm out of my depth and seeing things first hand that I wouldn't have expected to less than 12months into work. The good thing about being on a grad scheme is that you keep moving around experiencing different areas, and loads of time and thought is put into your development. I've always got interesting stuff on the horizon, but I do have some horribly slow days. Decent group of people around me helps.
