Mike
Watch this one sink like a stone. Figure draft day is as good a time as any to focus on next season, even if the Knicks motto is relatively the same. Looks like NY will miss out on Ricky and Stef Curry, so I have no clue what's going to happen tonight. What are your teams doing? And by yours, I mean the other two people that watch NBA ball. Also, read this Simmons article about the Clippers' curse. It's as funny as I can remember him ever being.

Segun Oluwaniyi
Can't see why Knicks fans are so excited by Curry anyway. He can score, but he's small, not a point guard, and not a great passer or defender. Hopefully the Knicks can throw the 8 and 29 pick and some rubbish player at someone to get Rubio or Thabeet. Shaq trade will be a disaster imo. He's not much on defence these days, and I think him and Illgaukas together will form the slowest frontcourt in the history of basketball. Still be the third best team in the conference if Magic can get Hedo back. Talk of Rondo being traded as well. To Memphis for Rudy Gay and Mike Conry. Would be an absolute steal for Boston. Gay is a legitimate all star talent and Conley can put up the same numbers as Rondo given the same playing time. Think Griffin will be a massive bust by the way. In a league that boast the likes of Hedo Turkoglu and Pau Gasol, He's an undersized forward who can't shoot/has little skills. (Tbf, I'm basing on highlights as I don't watch college sports outside of the Huskies.) Also, the news just said Orlando is trading Courtney Lee and Alston for Vince Carter and Ryan Andersen. Wow. NBA draft day kills transfer deadline day for excitement.

Depends if Turkoglu signs back. If he does, it's a great trade. If not, it's awful. I think they can replace Lee between Pietrus, Redick, and Carter. This Anderson character is supposed to be decent as well. I am watching the draft with a Wizards fan, and he is pissed man. The whole reason they made that trade yesterday is because they thought they couldn't get Rubio. And, alas, there he was sitting at #5. The guy was spitting fire. I felt awful when Curry went to Oakland as well. As I said above, I don't think he's great, but would have loved the pick simply for the reaction it would have got from a beleaguered fanbase. Minn. does not need both PGs they drafted. A trade in the works? (desperate now)

Segun Oluwaniyi
The New York Knicks are working hard to cut a deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves to acquire guard Ricky Rubio, a Western Conference said. I only know the Lakers won last week. Think BB is the most accessible of American sports. You can enjoy the action without having to know all the rules in detail. Used to be so into it during the mid 90s. Obviously I'm a massive glory hunter MJ and Bulls fan when it comes to basketball. Lost interest and football took over since. Really got into it again this year, seeing Grant Hill at the Suns and almost 40 made me feel suddenly very old though!! Also been interesting reading up on the shift in rules and everyone is saying it was so much tougher and better ten year ago.

Segun Oluwaniyi
Got a copy of game 1 from the series last week between LA and the Magic, was a good watch . Out of interest how does the whole draft thing work? Draft is fairly simple. Players (there are certain rules as to who is eligible) apply from the univerisites in America and professional teams around the world to be selected. From that pool, 60 players are picked by the 30 teams (2 rounds of selections). Draft is also important as it symbolizes the beginning of the NBA offseason (like the summer transfer window). There are usually many important trades and transactions in the days leading up to and after the draft. In addition, draft picks are often traded on this night. It is not uncommon for a player to be selected by one team and then be traded to another on draft night. This occured with one Kobe Bryant, who was taken by the Hornets at first and traded to LA that night. Hopefully that can give you a better idea of what is happening. Good luck following the NBA mehn. (NBA rules make it so you cannot change this through trade). It is poor economy, so I don't see many teams who would spend this much on a thirty-year old who's never had an all-star year. Hedo is only worth 10 or more million $'s to the Magic imo. Still, if they can't get him back I don't like it. Love Carter as a wiley old veteran who can win you the odd game. Hate him as a large contributor on a title contender. You shouldn't be so hard on Rubio either. He is literally the youngest player in the league. One year spent playing in the second best league in the world, lobbying for a trade to the Knicks won't hurt anyone.
