(Thanks to Neil for the info)

What team would people go with? With it being at Cardiff first I'd go with two spinners:

Strauss

Cook

Bopara

Pietersen

Collingwood

Flintoff

Foster

Rashid

Swann

Onions

Harmison

That side would bat deep too. I'd choose Onions between the two swing bowlers, the other being Anderson, simply on form. Same goes for the two tall hit the deck bowlers: Broad and Harmison. Not sure who I'd go with out of Anderson and Broad if I was going for four fast bowlers though.

Crazy to leave Anderson out, and Broad for that matter.

Who would you leave out like?

Think England might just win the 1st test

Strauss

Cook

Bopara

Pietersen

Collingwood

Prior

Flintoff

Broad

Swann

Harmison

Anderson

Harmison seems to be coming into some real form at the minute and although it's harsh to leave Onions out Harmisons offers something different to the rest of the bowlers.

Well you said you'd leave Anderson out based on form but he's been our best bowler for about a year now. As much as I like Onions, he'd miss out for me.

Not sure on the other spots. For me it's nailed on Flintoff, Anderson and Swann will play. The other two places in the bowling attack will be decided between Harmison, Onions, Broad, Rashid and Panesar. Not sure on whether I'd opt for two spinners or not, but Rashid easily gets the nod ahead of Panesar if we do go down that route. If it's two pacemen, I'd go with Broad and Harmison, who just edges it over Onions. Last chance saloon for Harmison though. If he fails this time, his England career is over.

Will go for a day at Headingley. Touts galore outside there.

How much do you reckon tickets will be from a tout, and what are the chances of getting a couple of seats together?

Anderson is probably the best swing bowler in the world atm, although Lee looks to be coming back into his form now.  I only think Harmison should be called on if there are injuries or everyone else is just getting battered around.

Not sure how you can take Foster over Prior either, England will definitely need a strong lower order over the course of this series, Broad's inclusion will help. I don't agree with all the 2 spinner stuff, the Ashes is not a 'trial by fire' kind of series.  I'd have Onions in instead.  Sidebottom would be my next choice, and then Harmison.  He's clearly the form bowler from county cricket though for a call up.  My gut tells me Ian Bell will get another chance to prove himself by the time this series is over.

Strauss

Cook

Bopara

Pietersen

Collingwood (Still uneasy about his big series capacity)

Flintoff

Prior

Broad

Swann

Onions

Anderson

This series will be about the Australian bowling.  I'm expecting England to be able to score runs and wickets, but the likes of Ponting, Hussey, Hughes, and co. will be as clinical as ever.  If Australia can come up with a viable spinner and Lee is back to his best, then I think they'll win.  If not, it'll be tight.  Can't see England winning by more than 1 test.

Agree completely about Prior, he's earnt the right to wear the gloves.

With regards to Onions/Harmison, I'll probably change my mind every day until we get underway who should get the spot in the XI. It's a really close call, but seeing the way Harmison fired it into Hughes over the last couple of days, it reminded of his old fire.

I'm also with you on the Collingwood front too. He's not produced the goods for a while now and needs a big series if he wants to continue his Test career.

At the moment, I'd go with:

Strauss

Cook

Bopara

Pietersen

Collingwood

Prior

Flintoff (think Freddie needs to come in at 7 for the first test as his batting is way behind Prior at this present moment although I'm hopeful he can turn it around)

Broad

Swann

Harmison

Anderson

Highest price tickets are £75 lowest are £45. Touts generally try and double it I think, but a bit of negotiation and I think you could get some decent seats for £60. Not sure about 2 together though. There are usually some spares kicking around as well.
