Dave
I know fuck all about boxing but like reading people's posts about it. PS: yes, this is lifted directly from the Fight Night Round 4 advert.

indi
Are we talking about them at the height of their powers? If so, then I'd go for Tyson by KO. He's not in Ali's class when it comes to boxing, but his power and aggression would simply be too much for Ali. At any other time than their respective peaks then Ali's superior skills would mean that he'd win, probably on points.

Mike
D'amato trained Tyson vs pre-Vietnam Ali = Ali wins, imo. Earnie Shavers was a bit similar to Tyson in terms of power (at least, according to Holmes, who was knocked down by Shavers and knocked out by Tyson.) Shavers lost to Ali on points and I think Tyson would have as well. Still, sometimes all it takes is one punch.

Ronaldo
Ali by late TKO, Tyson's incredible speed will be nullified
Guest kingdawson
Tyson in his prime would beat Ali no question. Tyson was a machine and Ali had obvious flaws.
Ronaldo
Tyson beat journeymen or veterans in his prime. Whenever he faced anyone good, he lost. A theme he maintained throughout his career Ali (past his prime) faced Foreman, a lot more powerful than Tyson and won. Ali would have no problem whatsoever here

He's not in Ali's class when it comes to boxing, but his power and aggression would simply be too much for Ali. Not sure I agree with that. Foreman before the rumble in the jungle was similar to Tyson, he was knocking people out for fun and was an animal... nobody on the planet thought Ali had a chance in hell of withstanding Foreman's brutal technique but Ali soaked it up and we all know the rest. I think if Ali could get through the first 3 rounds he'd put Tyson down in about 6 or 7.

I think if Ali could get through the first 3 rounds he'd put Tyson down in about 6 or 7. I think the time difference is key, although Foreman and Tyson are comparable when taken within the context of their own times, the progress in strength, fitness, and general conditioning made in the years between when they fought means that Tyson would be an even bigger challenge physically for Ali than Foreman was and I think he'd therefore be too much for Ali. Ronaldo
Foreman had a hell of lot more natural strength and power than Tyson, which is why he managed to come back at 45 and win the title back Who did Tyson beat who was any good? Honestly, his record is a sham

Ronaldo
he wasn't good either. Tyson fought club fighters like that bloke from Kentucky Sam Scaff then graduated to average tough guys like Mitch Green and Ribalta. He didn't knock out anyone who had genuine boxing ability and a chin

No he didn't.....Tyson wouldn't have got near him in the 65-68 period.Lennox Lewis with his bulk and speed would give Clay a closer fight.

Early Tyson wasn't human, but that all went away when Don King came around.

Incognito
Interesting that only one person fancies Tyson if it went the distance. Clay/Ali would literally box Tyson's head off,far too much hand speed, and a chin to take anything.
