Interpolic
Did anyone see the first in the new series just then? Top notch stuff imo, Jimmy McGovern's the master of brooding, miserable, overwhelming suspense. Loved Clocking Off and previous series' of The Street. Oh, and Dockers was good too. LiquidAK
Saw the one with the guy off the nationwide ads. Was pretty good, felt bad for him at the ending.
Interpolic
Good God, just watched another Jimmy McGovern thing on BBC1 called Moving On. I think it's shown on daytime TV or something. Absolute wank it was.
Interpolic
Anna Friel stars in this tonight: Anna Friel plays a single mother who turns to prostitution to pay her debts and provide for her sons' schooling. Things seem to be going well, and when her boiler breaks, romance beckons with the arrival of a handsome plumber. However, her life turns sour when his father recognises her and warns her off his son and grand-daughter, just as she is beginning to fall in love. Also starring David Bradley and Daniel Mays. I love this show, but I admit to being a sucker for Northern misery.
davy_fulla
Looking forward to it. Really enjoyed last weeks but done my usual of not being able to keep my eyes open for the last 10 mins. Shouldn't be a problem tonight with anna friel in it

davy_fulla
Great rack! not bad for the first 5mins in eh? Good storyline tonight. Thought that lad was a bit of a soft touch though when he kept running back. His old man was a bit of a geeza though

Guest Geordiesned
I didn't see any of the 1st 2 series? Worth getting on dvd?
Interpolic
I didn't see any of the 1st 2 series? Worth getting on dvd? I saw maybe 2/3 of each series and they were absolutely brilliant. Better than this series I'd say because the stories and characters overlapped a lot more frequently, whereas that element's been a bit tenuous and brief this time round, e.g. the lad today bumping into Anna Friel when she dropped her shopping. Also Bob Hoskins, Anna Friel and Robin Hood fella are great but I think they've pandered to the big stars a bit much this time round, although it's still one of the best things on TV. Interpolic
You can tell Shameless isn't filming at the moment, they're all in these!! Haha I know. Tbh it wasn't that exceptional tonight but it's good telly. He's got a very specific formula though: Family Man>Everything's hunky-dory>Ooooh, or is it?>Fuck me, he's in the shit now like>Ah nah, he's going to get away with it actually>Oh OK, he's well fucked. Always involves a lot of "what would I do?" scenarios though, and he's good at pacing it so that the pressure's cranked right up towards the end.
