I'm after some good music DVD's since I don't have many official ones at all really. I've listed the artists I'm particurlarly wanting to find some good DVD's for so any feedback would be appreciated. Feel free to recommend other artists as well though for the sake of this thread which might interest other people. I know theres a load of dvd's released for the older artists but I would imagine quite a few of them will be shit or unofficial crap. I'm really after some great gigs and some interesting documentaries.

I'm looking for the following mostly: Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Kinks, Sex Pistols, The Smiths

I'll recommend Oasis - There And Then. I'm probably wasting my time though because anyone who has any interest in them probably already has it. Some amazing performances on it though.

I only have two, but I can't say anything bad about them.

John Lennon: Imagine

The Beatles- Anthology

Can't fault either of them. Both absolutely brilliant.

I'll definitely be trying them out at some point, cheers

I've only got a few like. Got hundreds of albums but I have never really bought music dvd's due to them costing £20 each a few year back then being more interested in my film and comedy collection.

I have:

Oasis - Live By The Sea - Very good earlyish gig towards the end of the Definitely Maybe tour with some great vocals from Liam and some b-sides they never play anymore like Headshrinker and D'Yer Wanna Be A Spaceman?

Oasis - There and Then - Performances from their gigs at Earls Court 95 and Maine Road 96. Two of the best gigs they've ever done.

Oasis - Familiar To Millions - Very good gig from Wembley Stadium in 2000 with some class DVD extras.

Oasis - Definitely Maybe - My favourite Oasis dvd. Brilliant interviews about the making of the album plus live performances of each track and promo videos

Oasis - Lord Don't Slow Me Down - Tour documentary from the Don't Believe The Truth Tour. Very funny and the extra commentary feature from the band is hilarious.

Blur - The Best Of - Loads of promo videos basically

Stereophonics - Live at Cardiff Castle - Brilliant gig from when they were good

Stereophonics - Live at Morfa Stadium - See above

Stereophonics - A Day At The Races - Good gig from when they turned shite

Coldplay - Live 2003 - Decent but not all that great. I wouldn't recommend it.

Live Forever - Brillaint documentary about britpop and the mid 90's.

As you can see I have a shit collection  I'm gonna get The Stone Roses DVD eventually like so i'm just looking for some other good ones to add yo my hit list

EDIT: I also have Travis - More Than Us. Very enjoyable gig if you can still put up with Travis. Stay clear otherwise though. Oh and I have The Beatles - Help in the newish box set which I haven't watched yet.

The amount of different camera angles and remixes available is awesome.

Got the Chris Cunningham and Spike Jonze ones from the same collection aswell, Gondry is the greatest music video director of all-time for me though.

Also, there was a cracking documentary about Factory Records on the BBC a couple of years back, dont think it was released on DVD, but the whole thing is on Google Video:

The best music DVD imo is Jonathan Demme's film of the 1984 Talking Heads tour - Stop Making Sense.

This concert film is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of the genre. Leonard Maltin rated the film four stars out of four, describing it as "brilliantly conceived, shot, edited and performed" and "one of the greatest rock movies ever made."[2] Roger Ebert gave the film a three-and-a-half star rating, writing that "the overwelming [sic] impression throughout Stop Making Sense is of enormous energy, of life being lived at a joyous high...It's a live show with elements of Metropolis...But the film's peak moments come through Byrne's simple physical presence. He jogs in place with his sidemen; he runs around the stage; he seems so happy to be alive and making music...He serves as a reminder of how sour and weary and strung-out many rock bands have become."[1] Danny Peary described Stop Making Sense as "Riveting...What takes place on stage will make even the most skeptical into Talking Heads converts...

I've only got one, but it's class: Sigur Rós - Heima. Part fiction really but 24hr Party People is a great watch if you're in to the madchester scene at all. Very entertaining and some quality music.

Guest float one in

The Band - The Last Waltz.

You say you are looking for Bob Dylan so you will definitely love this. Directed by Martin Scorsese, I haven't watched it for years so can't remember it very well but I do remember thinking it was class at the time. If I remember correctly it is a video of their last ever concert, with guest performances from loads of people - Dylan, Van Morrison, Neil Young, Neil DIamond and Joni Mitchell are the ones I remember off the top of my head.

Saw an Oasis film on Channel 4 a few months ago, I think it was all in black and white, was pretty good.

Sounds like Lord Don't Slow Me Down.

Controll (about Ian Curtis of Joy Division) is amazing but don't expect much about the band

Wasn't a film made about Kurt Cobain's dying moments a couple of years back?

Gus Van Sant's Last Days?

Last Days, that sounds right. Any good? Never got round to watching it, and promptly forgot what it was called.
