Ok, so i've just read that Jimi Hendrix has been voted as having the best riff with Voodoo Child. I would say try your top 20 although it may take sometime for you's to think of 20 so i'll shorten it. What is your take on it, who would you choose in your top 10? I'll give it a shot in a bit when i'm not quite so busy :)

Jimi Hendrix's Voodoo Child is the number one guitar riff of all time, according to an online music poll.

The real life guitar hero beat a slew of other rock favourites, including Guns N' Roses, Led Zeppelin and AC/DC.

The survey by MusicRadar.com asked its readers to vote for their favourite riff and the site has been counting down the top 50.

The publication of the top 20 revealed only two entries from the past decade - Muse's Plug In Baby took spot 11 and The White Stripes' Seven Nation Army came in at 15.

Led Zeppelin has three riffs in the top 20, while Black Sabbath and AC/DC claim two spots.

Voodoo Child (Slight Return) is the last track on the 1968 album Electric Ladyland but was not released as a single until after Hendrix's death in 1970.

The genesis of the song was the 15-minute Voodoo Chile jam, also on Electric Ladyland.

Hendrix improvised the unmistakable riff while being filmed by a TV crew, according to Rolling Stone.

MusicRadar editor-in-chief Mike Goldsmith told Sky News Online the poll indicated Hendrix is the undisputed rock guitar champion.

"Whenever we've done stories like this, we always get a great response - it's the ultimate pub conversation," he said.

"Everyone's got an opinion. We got just shy of 5,000 response via email, Twitter and Facebook.

"It's quite pointed that classic rock is still the big thing. This is just good music.

"You can see the influence of these types of people on say, Jack White, who's just everywhere - releasing new albums or setting up record companies."

When pressed on what his favourite riff was, Mr Goldsmith admitted: "I voted for number six - Back In Black, AC/DC. But I only voted once, honest!"
