Creating a VPN

Right. I'm having some trouble with my 360. I used to live in NI, and originally signed up for a UK xbox live account. I've sinced moved south of the border, and things have been working fine for the last 2 years. Recently, MS have decided to be cunts and start blocking me from accessing certain features of live, and now they've stopped me from downloading off marketplace, because my IP address doesn't match up with the region I'm registered in. I've read that if I set up a VPN, I can effectively fool xbox live into thinking I'm in the UK. Can anyone give me a few pointers? Using Vista btw...

I looked at this yesterday but didn't reply because ms have been known to block ip's from vpn (i suppose for region locked content etc)

Seriously, if you were thinking of doing this you would have to pay. You can get it free but the bandwidth is shit but this would give you an indication of whether you can get away with it or not.

The process is simple as you might know now. you install the software and the the output from your p.c in encrypted to the server in wherever and then re-distrubuted through their proxy.

If you're looking to play online  with this forget it, the lags are abysmal, you'll get atrocious pings.

My advice would be to look for free vpn's and try to connect to live, if you can then you'll probably have to fork out for a decent bandwidth.

Cheers. It's only recently that they've started blocking me from accessing content. Fucking stupid, because it's stuff that should be available in both the UK and Ireland, but for some reason, they won't let me access it. I'll try and see if I can get anywhere with a free VPN, just to test the water, but I may just have to grin and bear it until my current gold account runs out (Feb 2011 ffs!), and then set-up a new "Irish" account...
