Gash
I'm looking at getting some large scale printing done at Uni about 2ft by 2ft album covers but i don't really understand how big the picture will need to be (resoution) for this to not be blurry? Firstly, does anybody know a good site to get large album cover images and what resolution (minimum) the picture will need to be to not pixelate/blur. Nothing to do with the band blur. Guest ethangl
first you need to know what dpi -- dots per inch -- you're going to be printing. at very very low dpi, like 72, 24"x24" would be 1728x1728 pixels. that'd be your minimum resolution, and it'd look shit to anybody that's any closer than like six feet when they're looking at it. since you will need really high resolution, you are better off scanning it yourself. assuming you own it. Keefaz
Aye, should be more like 7000x7000 if you want it to look sharp.
cubaricho
You'll need at least 200dpi for a print to look decent.
Gash
Hmm, i'll ask the printing room man, he should know. Just don't want to waste the £25 on the print if it'll be naff!
Southerner
2ft by 2ft for £25 will be bullshit, my best friend owns a printing company so i'm kind of privvy to test prints and older canvas' and the such, I think the cheapest 2ft by 2ft from his decent printer would run for a customer around 50-60 quid, I got a Chick Webb album a few years ago on canvas and it takes pride of place on my wall, and i know it'll last because It's laquered and printed on quality canvas. Gash
nah, it's 8ftx2ft for £25 on glossy paper not canvas. It's Uni so we get it for no profit basis!
