To be honest, if Sunderland's new shirt sponsor happened to have a penguin as a logo, I'd hardly see the link with ourselves. It's hardly as if the Puma badge is like the pussycat on their shirts.

Puma shirts are ok, in my role as a bit of a football shirt collector I have a few and they are decent. I can't say I'm too fussed about the maker of the kit. As long as it stays black and white.

 

You can just see Ashley's brain ticking over, thinking "I know what I can do next to really really wind up these northern monkey's. I'll change the colours, no more black and white stripes. That's it, next seasons home kit - orange with pink flashes, and obviously keep the banana yellow away kit and maybe a white third kit with red bits. hell yeah, derek get on the phone to puma!"

The back of the Jersey is the trouble part - as numbers and names are hard to read without a patch of some shape or form.  I felt the white patch on the back of the current jersey was too big (and would have been better black insted of white).

 

So I wondered what the back of the jersey might look like if we used one of the mooted Puma designs. Did them both with/without names/numbers as it changes how they look.  I know they will be slated  :-[  so fire away

I guess if it's Puma so be it. Some points that I really hope for however:

 

- Enough with the centred badge please.

- Enough with a patch on the back.

- Enough with the huge patch around Northern Rock (if they renew, or with whatever the next sponsor is)

- Use Red lettering/numbering, why not?

a makem thread had 20 pages about us having a black cat on our strip, they were wanking each other stupid over it. it was the first i knew of it when i was spying on thier site, and I have to say, it hardly felt like the end of the world.

One good thing with Puma is that they don't relentlessly stick to widespread templates like Adidas do. Though in fairness, we did escape them over the last few seasons.

The back of our shirt has never been any good anyway. The best we can do with stripes is either yellow (not gold) or blue. If we need a patch on the back it should have a much better design than our last to shirts. Something like this could work:

See there's absolutely nothing wrong with that Cordone one, at all.

The best one is the Cole one bottom left, simple yet effective and keeps the stripe look.

 

Edit - though for a bigger name you'd have to stretch it I guess.
