So should we get promoted and we decide we need a new manager to survive/progress in the PL but as Ashley is tight as a nuns fanny so wont pay compensation, we need to look for someone who wont need to pay compensation too.

Keegan if we get new owners. This as well as Shearer. I would prefer the first under the right circumstances above anybody else tbh as the last time I really enjoyed us playing football was under KK.

Under Ashley Hughton will be kept as manager as long as possible imo.

If we get promoted, then we should and will stick with Hughton. Hes not going to be the best manager in the premiership, but hed deserve a shot at it. Having said that, Id find it difficult to say no to Mark Hughes to be honest. If we sack Hughton, wed be deservedly slaughtered and the managerial merry go round starts again. Not that I think that we should extend his contract. He is the right choice in the short term.

i dont think hughton deserves a shot at anything. there's no room for sentiment, and you don't give people contracts to 'reward' them, you give out contracts because you think the person in question is the right choice for the future. the last time we 'rewarded' a manager and said they had earned their chance was roeder. let's not make the same mistake again please.

the decision process should have nothing to do with questions of loyalty or rewarding past deeds, but a hard-headed look at what is needed to keep us up - in the event we do secure promotion. if there's another manager out there who would seem to give us a better shot at that, then it would be daft to stick with hughton.

I fear our current crop of players would struggle to cope with a foreign manager.

I like Co Adriaanse, but for our current crop Hughes or Shearer would be the best option

The system doesn't work so it's all a bit pointless saying who I'd like when they're a cog in a machine that's on fire and is producing shit. That said, Mark Hughes I guess.

We'd have to pay someone off to get someone 'good enough', which throws realism out of the window. We're sticking with Hughton anyway. Being typically negative, he'll get the sack/resign before Christmas imo.

That said, being atypically positive, someone in here said yesterday that the thing that gives the likes of Birmingham/Burnley a boost when they come up - is team spirit, togetherness, etc. But i just don't think we have enough quality nor the attraction for good players. Hughton's really gonna have to prove himself in the transfer market and dig out some bargains if he's gonna have any hope of keeping his job/keeping us up next year.

Team spirit and togetherness will be the key factors in whether you stay up or not IMO. As much as better players help, if you can go into the season with momentum, it'll have the same sort of affect. Just look at Hull's squad that stayed up last year.
