What phones did you have?

The other thread got me thinking about phones.

I had:

This piece of shit was my first phone, and cost about £40 from the local Co-op. It had a three-line display, with one line for text messages. To read them, you had to watch it scroll across the screen and you couldn't control it. So if it was a long message with a number in the middle or at the end, you'd often have to watch the entire fucking message again to get down the number.

I then moved to this bad boy. Changable fucking covers! Amazing stuff. This phone actually lasted me ages, and was class. Snake ftw.

http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/3757/no3310b.gif

Pretty much the same as the other one. Oh, but Snake II.

http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/4153/no5210.gif

Had a thermometer. :idiot2:

http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/3771/no6510.gif

Business class, with a blue screen instead of green. Rad.

http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/4403/snt610.gif

Colour screen. Camera. Pictures of naked women.

From there it all got a bit boring. :(

Still the best camera I've ever used on a phone by far. If only the design was a bit better.

Aye, the camera is really good. My digital camera broke and I've never needed to replace it. Mind, my sister just got that one where it's like 12mp and it puts mine to shame a little.

I had...

My first ever mobile... my god it was shit. Motorola Something-or-other

http://www.marrsairsoft.co.uk/ZeRoE/Phones/1.gif

Then moved on to this bad boy (Nokia 3210)

http://www.marrsairsoft.co.uk/ZeRoE/Phones/2.gif

Followed by the 3310

http://www.marrsairsoft.co.uk/ZeRoE/Phones/3.gif

Then onto the Nokia N-Gage, which got nicked by some cunt on the bus... so got another one.

http://www.marrsairsoft.co.uk/ZeRoE/Phones/4.gif

Then a Samsung something.

http://www.marrsairsoft.co.uk/ZeRoE/Phones/5.gif

Then a Samsung D500, good phone, but every fucker who breathed had one of these.

http://www.marrsairsoft.co.uk/ZeRoE/Phones/6.gif

Then the D600, this was brief, just a D500 with a facelift.

http://www.marrsairsoft.co.uk/ZeRoE/Phones/7.gif

Then started on HTC 's.  Absolutely Class phones. This was the HTC E650

http://www.marrsairsoft.co.uk/ZeRoE/Phones/8.gif

Then onto the HTC TyTN II, Also a brilliant phone, built in GPS everything.

http://www.marrsairsoft.co.uk/ZeRoE/Phones/9.gif

Now this is my Current phone, best phone I've had in ages, Hardware second to none, once you've spent time getting the applications and everything you want, absolutely phenominal phone. 4.3 inch capacitive screen, 5mp camera, takes up to 32gb MicroSD etc etc, also my current sat nav with TomTom Navigator 7.

It's funny how many people stick to the same manufacturer. I mean back in the day it was all about Nokia for nearly everyone, but since going to S-E I've not really entertained anything else.

My first phone. The motorola graphite. c1998

Then went though all the Nokia's. Favourite one was the first one with the interchangeable faces, 3210?? Had all the classics, St George Cross, Union Jack, Bulldog. Also one that gave you a little slider so it looked like the phone in the matrix.

They don't make them like that anymore.

I also went through a '3' phase. Had this for a bit:

http://www.3g.co.uk/PR/May2004/ClamSmall.jpg

That was a hand-me-down from a cousin though.

Also had one of the first ever kind of phones that 3 brought out - the 3G ones with the video network and such. Was very bulky - almost like a remote control. Can't find a picture though.

remember this bloke, a customer visting the place i worked c1989. He got his phone out to pose. Then he got the docking station, then the battery pack, and assebled it all,the phone was on a curly wire to the base. and sat making a call, just like a landline.

First phone, think it was called 402 on Nokia, but it's called the 5110 everywhere else. Basically nicked it off my mum and she never put up a fight. Changable covers, class.

http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/2993/no511000.jpg http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/no511000.jpg/1/w500.png

I think my next phone was might have been this, not sure if I had a 3210 in between. The 7110 was fun at the time, the beginning of WAP (a massive disappointment in the end) and it crashed from time to time. The scrollwheel was great and I loved the flick down cover (It was spring loaded and a button on the back made it fly down to answer calls, etc.) - absolutely the envy of all of my 13 year old mates because of it. Shame it was massive and still had an aerial when every other phone had made them internal.

http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/2633/no711000.jpg http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/no711000.jpg/1/w186.png

Next up, 6210. I think lots of people had this, basically just a good phone at the time, nothing special - did nothing the 7110 couldn't but it was smaller and the software was a bit better:

http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/6571/no621000.jpg http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/no621000.jpg/1/w209.png

Didn't get another phone for a bit, switched to PAYG and ended up getting what I suppose was a 3510i. It had a colour screen but I'm not sure if it was even really an upgrade. Chunky and basically a bit crap.

http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/433/no3510i.gif http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/no3510i.gif/1/w139.png

This might have been next. You couldn't see the screen on a sunny day, basically absolutely awful.

http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/7034/nokia261000.jpg http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/nokia261000.jpg/1/w263.png

Then got away from Nokia, tried a cheapo Sony Ericsson. Very slow is the main thing, lots of features on it but none I actually used.

http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/8555/4902front.jpg http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/4902front.jpg/1/w278.png

And finally, back on contract a HTC Hero. I really like it, actually connects you on the move, definitely a hint at the future. http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/2190/htcheroreview.jpg http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/htcheroreview.jpg/1/w530.png

Heard that's an absolute nightmare.

It's got much better over time apparently, but on that it was just poo. When you closed an application it wasn't really closed, just minimized. So you'd have to keep going into the memory usage page and quit apps to free up memory to run other stuff and get better battery life.

I got TomTom running on it though. :smug:

I had this about ten years ago:

http://img704.imageshack.us/img704/6500/sagem.jpg

It came with one proper song on it - Get Your Freak On by Missy Elliott.  I had it as my alarm clock tune for a couple of years and the song still reminds me of waking up when I hear it.
