Stifler
Well, I mean if it was in a sfae area (like Amsterdam, though maybe not as advertised), the women or men if they so choose wern't being taken advatage of (they do it because they want ot and not because they need to or are forced into it), were safe, safe sex was practised, no pimps were involved, it was heavily controlled, age limits applied, and tests were carried out regulary. NJS
It's a bit like the drugs question - in principle (and morally imo) of course it should be legal. But those who think it would erase all the problems at a flick of a switch are naive. The higher class ones who to all intents and purposes operate legally at the moment would be okay but you'd still have the crack/smack addicts desperate for money who'd still fill a niche in the market. Of course a joint drugs/prostitution legalisation at the same time with a massive operation to deal with the hangover could work but it isn't going to happen. Cajun
I was thinking about the other night when watching some police show on prostitution and at the start I though "Why shouldn't it be allowed" but at the end I thought definitely not. Can you define "need to"? Surely no-one wants to have sex with dirty old men?

Gash
Yes, it's no coincidence that rape numbers have dropped in Holland since the legalisation has been in effect.

Northerngimp
Yes absolutely. You're never going to stop it so why not ttake that on board and legalise it. Put some controls on it, tax it. Make prostitutes get a licence, make them get examinded by a doctor every month. It would most likely take crime away from it. Lets move away from banning everything in this country and try and understand issues.
Guest firetotheworks
Its absurd to suggest that we should legalise it considering the amount it would cost to put all of those things into place and police it. The tax on it would put it up to the price of those agencies that more or less are legalised prostitution anyway. It might sound daft, but it's not a big enough problem for it to be legalised. Just that rape tends to be power related, so that is surprising.

Yeh, stats have proven it has gone down, maybe it because a lot of prostitutes report themselves of being raped, well they do in England.
