While browsing around about Al not wearing a SAFC top I found out that SOL getting renamed is out there as a idea.

X-Newcastle United Chief exec Walton "We'd only do it if it worked and didn't take anything away.

"There have been a couple of things in that kind of area we have been looking at."

Naturally are lot of there crowd see what they are thinking as great idea & completely different to what Del & Ash want to do at SJP.

If anyone has any ideas of names or ideal sponsors please post them.

They can call it what they want.  Fans will still call it SOL *and* they'll rake in the cash - which will equate to an even greater disparity between their buying power and ours.

It doesn't matter though because as it has been said to the fans it will still be SOL just like SJP will always be SJP, but it's nice that their not laughing anymore.

Aside from to the bank, if they pull it off.

Who the fuck cares.

It's hardly as if it has any history tied to the shit hole, unlike SJP.

There is only one Stadium Of Light, and it's certinally not that fucking dump down the road.

It's still about 10-15 years old though, and is now their home, if it was named from the start then maybe you could argue that, but they have been their a while now. As you say though it doesn't matter what it's called, it's gained it's name amongst the fans just like SJP has.

Would the "Duff beer Krusty burger Buzz cola Costington's department store Kwik-E-Mart Stupid Flaners Park" be too cool for them ?

There's more Greggs than A-Levels in Sunderland, so I'd honestly not be surprised to see it renamed as the Greggs Stadium. I know they made the same joke about us, but seriously, Sunderland is full of Greggs. They've even got two right next to each other (separated by a lamp post), with an actual Gregg's restaurant over the road inside a shopping center.
