A slip up on the Dashboard accidentally "announced" Gears 3, and that it will be released next April.

It will be officially announced on Monday, together with a new People Can Fly game, when Cliff Bleszinski of Epic Games will be on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.

The next instalment in the Gears of War series will feature a co-operative campaign for up to four players.

That's according to Epic's Cliff Bleszinksi, who wrote on his Twitter page: "Rod confirmed and I'm posting it here: 4 player integrated story co op in the campaign!"

Sounds like all the players will have a role to play in the narrative, then, and the focus won't just be on Marcus and Dom this time.

Gears of War 3 was officially announced earlier this week and will be released in Europe on 8th April 2011. Take a look at the first screenshots to see how it's shaping up.

Nice :D

The official Gears of War website has been updated with word that for the first time in franchise history, Epic Games and Msoft are giving fans the chance to decide the fate of a character. “How” you ask? Well, by purchasing avatar gear on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, fans and gaming communities around the globe will decide the destiny of the newest Carmine brother set to appear in Gears of War 3, with all the proceeds going to the Child’s Play Charity.

Keeping with the series’ tradition, Clayton Carmine will be introduced in the trilogy’s final chapter, and like Anthony and Ben, the newest rookie brother runs the high risk of meeting an early death. However, unlike in the previous games, the Xbox community will choose whether Carmine lives or dies by purchasing special Gears of War 3 avatar gear on Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Starting July 29 two new avatar t-shirts will be available on the Avatar Marketplace on Xbox LIVE – one shirt reads “Save Carmine” and the other reads “Carmine Must Die.” By purchasing the “Save Carmine” shirt, you’re casting your vote to let Carmine live in “Gears of War 3.” Conversely, purchasing the “Carmine Must Die” shirt means you want to see Clayton follow in the fate of his brothers.

For those that don’t know, Child’s Play is a community-based games industry charity dedicated to improving the lives of children around the world. Through their network of more than 60 hospitals and through the generosity of their community of donors, Child’s Play raises millions of dollars each year to donate games, consoles and toys to sick children. The proceeds from the sales of the “Save Carmine” and “Carmine Must Die” avatar gear and limited edition NECA t-shirts will go to Child’s Play. You can get up to date information about the fate of Clayton Carmine by visiting www.gearsofwar.com.

Pllleeeeeaaaassseee don't let the multiplayer be laggy, could seriously be the best multiplayer on the console, I'd still be playing Gears 2 if it wasn't such a laggy mess.

"Don't stop believing..."

You know that it'll be as buggy and as laggy as 1 and 2, and with twice as many glitches and griefers.

Or they've hopefully got 10 million monkeys working on the bloody net code.

Much easier if the tight twats just paid for dedicate servers, they must be rolling in it, give something back to the fans for the inconvience of having laggy multiplayer in two £40 games ffs
