Frazzle
Would rather lose him than offer him what he wants. A local lad who claims to love the club holding the club to ransome like a foreigner, forget him. He's not good enough to be pulling that s*** off. He's an alright player, but nowhere near worth going back to our old cycle of 'he's on a lot so I want parity' and offering money to players that really aren't worth it. How much is he asking for like? Until I hear anything concrete I'd more inclined to belief the club are the ones taking the piss. There is evidence of the club messing players/managers around in the past...
Cajun
Swap Taylor for Seb Larsson. Makes sense to me, will mean both sides will get value out of two players who they risk losing on the cheap otherwise.

Guest neesy111
Taylor has form, and he has a cunt of an agent. So to blame the club for this is unfair for once.
Guest Antec
He's probably asking for more than he's worth and the club are offering less than he's worth

Guest NewBoyPeetah
I really wouldn't be too sad to see the back of him. He's not a great player and he makes that famous 27 shirt less of an icon Before Williamson became a regular I'd have said keep him but they are pretty similar in terms of ability if in fact Taylor isn't worse and Williamson isn't a c**k end. £60k is far far too much for him and if it's Ashley's plan to cut the wage bill loosing Taylor is a much more agreeable way of doing it than selling someone like Barton. Taylor is already on 40k a week, and it's been well known he wants to be paid the same as Barton, Smith etc. It'll be what his agent is telling him to get. Since when did everyone believe what Stretford spouts off in the papers anycase. I knew he'd reject the contract, because we'll offer probably less than his last 1 because he's only worth 20k a week max imo.

cubaricho
Have to agree with the sentiments of using him to cut the wage bill rather than someone who actually provides for the squad like Barton. If he wants to play hardball he can fuck off, if he wants to stick around and work his ass off to try and get Colo and Williamson out of the squad then by all means stay around and take a cut in wages. Won't be missed imho.

It's all guesswork, and people don't help situations by pulling out figures like they are facts. I like him as a defender, which makes me in a minority on here, in fact I think we've found someone who's more hated than Ashley the way some go on, but I don't want the club over paying him, I don't want the club overpaying anyone because I support the club way before I support any player. I do agree his agent is a cunt, and Taylor the person is as thick as shit and easily pursauded but at some point the lad needs to grow up and see the clubs position, to see his own ability and to forget what his team mates are on because they won't be around for too long if they won't step in line with the cuts, but to level all this at Taylor and promote the club has done nothing wrong is daft, we don't know the facts, we don't know the figures, we do know the club childishly put him on the transfer list for refusing their first offer and we do know (or I do) Taylor pushed for a new contract over a year ago and was told to wait due to the club being in the CCC. You need at least 4 centre-backs in the Prem I'd say, and he's a useful backup.
