Wayne Bridge signs new Chelsea contract

For what it's worth, Spurs have just about conceded defeat in their attempts to sign Bridge.  He wants more money than the Spurs salary structure allows and he is almost certain to join Newcastle in the summer.  Very slight possibility it could be January, but he'll be a bosman at the end of the season and he also wants a huge signing on fee.

He signed a 5 year contract when he joined Chelsea meaning he's not out of contract until 2008.

Do we actually know this thing about the wages is true? Or the signing-on fee demand?

Don't think you were insinuating this MJ, but it can get a bit annoying that people assume whenever a player joins us it's because of the wages but when they join anyone else it's because it's a great opportunity.

I was actually going off memory him signing a 5 year deal, although BBC Sport and Sky Sports seem to back me up.

Exactly why in summer he a easy buy as he will refuse to sign a new contract and only 1 year left.
