Hideo Kojima has just announced Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Due out this November as a full retail game, the set will include Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and an HD take on recent PSP title Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker.

The PlayStation 3 version will pioneer Kojima's new 'Transfarring' system that will let you transfer your Peace Walker save game from your PSP onto your PS3.

The same system will also feature in an HD collection of the first two Zone of the Enders games, due out next year on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Further down the line, Kojima hopes you'll be able use the Transfarring system to transfer PlayStation 2 games onto your PS3 or NGP, and eventually move full PS3 games between your home console and your NGP, for play on either device.

Speaking in an interview during Konami's pre-E3 showcase, Kojima also stated that Metal Gear Rising was still on track for a 2012 launch.

Good stuff, however why the fuck have the left out the first one? Stupid.

I'm guessing the first game would have took too much work to 'modernise' with them having to bump it up 2 generations, but I dunno (perhaps the same could be said about Peace Walker though?).

Anyway i'll definatly get this, love the Metal Gear series and I never finished Snake Eater.

Kojima Productions wants to remake the first Metal Gear Solid title in full HD, so says the studio's creative producer Yoshikazu Matsuhana.

Speaking with Eurogamer at E3 in Los Angeles this week, Matsuhana explained that the studio had decided against including the 1998 PSone classic in the forthcoming Metal Gear Solid HD Collection as both its gameplay and visuals are just too dated.

"Obviously, we wanted to include it and make it a complete collection. However, as you know, Metal Gear Solid 1 was for the PSone. It has a very, very low polygon count," he explained.

"While at the time the game was something new and refreshing, just bringing it as is into HD probably wouldn't have that much meaning to us. We're doing two and three with a certain work flow where the goal is to take that game, preserve it and introduce it to a new generation. We can't really take that approach with Metal Gear Solid 1 because it's very dated at this point."

However, Matsuhana then added that the studio hopes to return to the game at some point and give it some special attention above and beyond a new HD lick of paint.

"If we were going to do Metal Gear Solid 1 we'd want to take more time with it. Not just up-res the textures, not just make things look pretty and polished, but go back and tweak some of the gameplay, tweak the story to update things and do it properly. Not just a re-master but a re-imagining almost.

"We do want to do that sometime down the road but it will take more time. It's not something we're looking at doing right now."

If it does materialise it wouldn't be the first time the PSone original had been remade. Too Human developer Silicon Knights remade it as Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes for the GameCube back in 2004.

The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, which incorporates buffed-up versions of Metal Gear Solid 2, 3 and Peace Walker, is due on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 later this year.

Fair enough.

If MGS2 had had Snake in it for the duration rather than 1/4 Snake and 3/4 Raiden then everyone would rave about it.

I think it's still a very impressive game despite the ridiculous storyline. Although MGS has always been ridiculous yet always been great.

Aye it was, was a good game though. Only bit that annoyed me was when the codec kept fucking up and Raiden was naked. As Otter said, if you played as Snake throughout the game rather than Raiden, everyone would love it.

I didn't have a problem with Raiden, it was his fucking girlfriend on the radio.

This is out next week, anyone getting it? Think ill be getting it the week after. £30 is good for the 3 games, I'd certainly buy each for a tenner on the 360. I'll probably still pre-own some shite and get it for £20 though. You know you want to prance around as Raiden in a skin tight suit in 'HD' :fwap:
