I love them. Conspiracies. Fantastic reading, which some of the best creative writing around.

Is Elvis alive?

Is the Queen a Reptile?

Did George W Bush blow up the World Trade Centre?

Do the New World Order dictate all world events?

That's just a small fraction of 'out there' ideas that capture the imagination, or, if you believe them, stir fear. If I'm bored on the internet, I'll often just start reading random conspiracy theories, as they are damn fun to read.

Here are some of my favourites:

John Titor - Time Traveler: http://johntitor.com/ for nearly a decade people believed he was REAL. Some still do. Fantastic stuff.

The Hidden Treasure of Washington State: http://thelongestlistofthelongeststuffatthelongestdomainnameatlonglast.com/treasures52.html

2012 - Mayan Calender/Nibiru: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_phenomenon / http://www.abovetopsecret.com/2012.php

Reptilians: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reptilians

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_conspiracy_theories has another list of theories to read!

PARKY'S GREATEST HITS!

JFK - http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,36018.msg3029471.html#new

John Titor - Time Traveler (or amazing internet troll)

Several times between 2000 and 2001 a poster called 'John Titor' started to post on several messageboards across the internet, claiming to be a 'Time Traveler' from 2036. If anyone tried that now, they'd be MEME'd into oblivion, and only the super niave would believe. However, 2000/2001, in some respects, were early days for the internet, and who wouldn't want to believe that a Time Traveler would use the internet to tell his story - after all THE INTERNET IS AWESOME!

He claimed to be a Military Time Traveler, and went into detail about events that would change the world; starting with an American Civil War that would begin in 2004. This would eventually lead to 'global nuclear war in 2015 that will destroy most of the major cities in the United States and many around the world'. Originally Titor had been sent back to 1975 to retrieve an IBM 5100 computer which he said was needed to "debug" various legacy computer programs in 2036; a reference to the UNIX 2038 problem.

With the year being 2011, and most (if not all) of his predictions not baring fruit, you'd think John Titor's legacy would have faded away... however...

People still want to believe that a Time Traveler from 2036 came back to 1970, to retrieve and old IBM computer, to debug its programming; stopped off in 2000 to meet his family, and in the process of THAT; sign up to several internet messageboards to discuss time travel and future events.

His predictions were generally vague, as predictions often are, and over the years people have linked them to several events as they see fit.

Predictions

2004 - Second American Civil War

2015 - "Russia launches a nuclear strike against the major cities in the United States (which is the "other side" of the civil war from my perspective), China, and Europe. The United States counter attacks. The US cities are destroyed along with the AFE (American Federal Empire)...thus we (in the country) won. The European Union and China were also destroyed"

Elaborate marketing excercise? Bored student's prank that grew out of control? Or a pointless use of time travel?

How did Sammy Davis Jr. lose his eye?

Another accusation is that Sammy Davis Jr. had his eye poked out by Frank Sinatra and his friends, and they told him to pretend it was a car accident.

Supposedly, Frank Sinatra and his friends did not want a black man as a close friend or as an investor in the Las Vegas casinos, and this was their way of forcing him to back off. Is this accusation true?

Now that makes sense...

Should the thread title not be Tin Foil Hat thread?

I'm sure it was named that before... or was it?

It was. It's a conspiracy. :frantic:

If you look at screenshots of this thread from 1967 and then compare them with ones taken from a slightly different angle in 1972, you'll see the eyes and the chin don't match. I reckon this thread was killed off by the mods to cover up their predilection for electronic Tippex sniffing. Or something. :shifty:

Dave killed Parky, and replaced him with a more subdued controllable Parky. That is, the Dave we know as Dave did that. Of course, we all know that the current 'Dave', is little more then the 'Dynamically Apt Variable Entity' that keeps this forum alive.

Oh I love conspiracies. I believe that Diana was murdered, Paul McCartney died and theres somthing fishy about the McCanns. However, I don't think the Queen is a reptile. Would love the moon landings to be staged though. What is the most in depth website to read up on conspiracies?
