Newcastle are closing in on the signing of Czech goalkeeper Petr Bolek with the player on Tyneside for a medical.

The Magpies have agreed a season-long loan deal with Slovakian side FK Senica for Bolek as Alan Pardew looks to bolster his goalkeeping options.

Newcastle are in the market for a new keeper after allowing Fraser Forster to join Celtic on a season-long loan and Bolek would provide cover for No.1 Tim Krul and Steve Harper.

Leyton Orient have also expressed an interest in Bolek and the player's agent Viktor Kolar confirmed Newcastle and Orient have agreed deals with Senica.

"We have received more offers. Some have been only just to ask us for some information but a number of clubs have given us a specific offer," said Kolar.

"We have registered offers from the Russian top-flight as well as from the UK.

"Leyton Orient have been very interested in signing Petr and he would most likely be first-choice there.

"Newcastle United have been the next option and in advance both sides have agreed on a season-long loan spell with the option of a permanent move."

Medical

Senica sporting director Dusan Vrto has travelled with Bolek to Newcastle and he revealed the keeper will take part in a few training sessions with Newcastle before the club decide to pursue the move.

"Petr is to take part in a few training sessions and will undergo a medical," Vrto told the club's official website. "On the basis of these manager Alan Pardew will have the final say over whether they sign him or not."

Vrto admits he is not surprised clubs are trying to sign Bolek after he impressed for Senica last season.

"We expected this could happen. We have looked up some alternatives and will see if Petr impresses there," added Vrto.

Bolek is determined to make the most of his chance of winning a move to Newcastle.

"I'm looking forward and feel fine. I want to give my best and fight for this big chance."

Clearly, Krul's impressive start to the season has got Llambias and Ashley salivating about the cash they'll get for him in the January window, so that'll be why they're scouting for goalies. Imagine they'll be selling Forster to Celtic soon as well.
