Desert Island.

Imagine you've been sailing around the world on a cruise, and the captains kicked you off cos you've been fingering his missus. He's dropped you off on an Island, fucking miles away from anyone and everything.

The captains not a total wanker, so he gives you the essential tools you'll need not to starve to death, and out of the goodness of his heart, he gives you an mp3 player, a portable DVD player, and the choice of any two books in the library. He also has access to a large selection of DVD's and has loads of fucking songs on his itunes.

He limits you to two songs, two DVD's and two books, and just to be a complete twat, he makes you choose straight away. The bastard.

For the films I choose The Departed and Back to the Future, because I get the most sheer entertainment from these films. I could've went dead arty and plumped for some obscure film only three people have seen, but I want to be entertained as I slowly starve to death.

The songs I'd choose would be 'If you see her, say hello' by Bob Dylan, and just to spice things up I'd have the Johnny Cash version of 'Hurt'

For the books I'd go for 'Johnny and the Bomb' for nostalgia, and probably 'Timeline' by Michael Crichton, cos' it's batshit long and a decent read. Plus it's set in like medieval times, so I could learn to joust and shit ( could be useful in the jungle).

I must point out, that in the essential pack that the captain gave me, it contained a copy of razzle and some baby oil, so don't use up your book options with porn, unless you wan't variety.

Anyway, give it a go, and just remember, you have literally NO TIME to overthink your choices.

Films is hard because you don't just want to go for your favourite films, you need ones you can watch over and over, like a really good, epic, action film... of which I can't think of any, one of my choices would definitely be Anchorman though.

Songs... Champagne Supernova and.... Rebellion (Lies).

Books? Never been a big reader so.. a massive Where's Wally and I don't know, I'd probably ask someone else to recommend a really good, really long book, after all there's probably no better time to get into reading.

I'm struggling to think of some over the top epic action film, so I'll go with the closest thing I can think of, Inglorious Basterds.

For the films I choose The Stuntman and Lord of the Rings (directors cut dvd set)

The songs I'd choose would be The Crystal Ship by the doors, and Fairytale of New York by the Pogues.

For the books I'd go for Les Miserable and The Lord of the Flies just because it would creep the shit out of me being on a desert island and all.

I am in on a technicality - it is just one long bastard of a film!!

For the films, I'd go for Pan's Labyrinth (for the escapism) and The Truman Show (so that my imagination adopts the idea that someone is watching me on the desert island - else you might as well find a way to die ASAP). Castaway seemed to obvious a choice O0 and maybe the Lost boxset is outside the parameter, otherwise, they'd be in.

The two songs I'd choose are Bright Eyes - Easy/Lucky/Free and Interpol - Take You on a Cruise

For the books: Watership Down and War & Peace (I'd have enough time to read it). Quite enjoyed reading Michael Crichton's Timeline, was supposed to be made into a film but not sure what happened.

For the mp3 player, I'd take an iPod touch and sort out WiFi on the island to give me access to the entire Spotify library.

For my book, I'd take a Kindle, entire amazon book store.

DVD player would be nigh on useless now, as I've got access to most shite anyway.

Problem, Rocker/Captain? :troll:
