Wifi USB adapter or Signal booster for a desktop?

Basically Im moving into a big house share but my desktop doesnt have in built wifi so I was thinking should I just buy a usb wifi adapter (no idea which one) or buy a signal booster thingy and then ethernet cable that into my desktop? I really have no idea so any help is welcome. I forgot to add I download tv shows etc a fair bit so will need a good connection.

Nah, you'd need to LAN into the second one. Alternatively you can buy a wireless bridge to plug in or a homeplug that distributes the wireless itself. Your router wifi will still be available for people downstairs etc.

Is there any way to connect two LAN devices, I'm getting internet TV at home and of course the internet for the house. Problem is my desk top is  up stairs and the TV down stairs and the Digibox needs to be connected to the modem. Is there anyway to connect them with out using a bloody long cable.
