Christ on a bike, man. That was quick.

With 2 good eyes he was the greatest HW since Joe Louis. In his prime he'd have beaten just about everyone put in front him.

Walk into any boxing gym in any country in the world and without doubt someone will be in there trying to replicate that famous style. RIP.

Sorry, but he wasn't as good as Ali...

You don't have to apologize, man.

He beat Ali hands down with 2 good eyes in their 1971 fight. At Frazier's best, Ali would lose to him ten times out of ten.

Apart from 1 fight against Jerry Quarry, Ali had been out of the ring for 4 years when the first Frazier fight happened. Ali at his best would beat Frazier at his best quite convincingly. Ali pre jail.

It was Boxing promoter Lou Dibella that broke the news I think.

@loudibella

According to Joe's agent, the stories are thankfully false. Glad my tweet premature. Terrible that false info spread.

No...pre Vietnam draft refusal then.

That's fine, but Ali never beat an opponent nearly as good as Frazier in that period. He also demonstrated a tendency to get hit with the left hook in the 60s. Frazier would have torn that Ali to bits.

Liston? Chuvalo at his best? Terrell? There were some good challengers then and Ali used to beat them one by one every 3 months. You only have to compare Frazier at his peak,which he was, vs Foreman and a past his best Ali vs. Foreman to show the gulf in class between them. Frazier was a very good Heavyweight Champion of the World, but Ali was the Greatest.

Nah, the Foreman arguement holds no water whatsoever. A top-class slugger will nearly always beat a top-class swarmer. A boxer on the other hand will nullify the slugger if he's good enough.

Ali can never be considered the greatest as long as there was a HW named Joe Louis before him.

Ali can never be considered the greatest as long as there was a HW named Rocky Marciano before him.
