Anyone Any Good With Formulae? Maths and that

Howay, I know there's tons of geeks on here. I need to reverse a formula, or something, it's part of a Music Technology assignment so it's not really my strong point, here goes.

n*s*c = x

I need to work out a formula whereby i already know what x and c are, to give n and s.

Anyone?

Ok, done a bit more working out.

x = 3.3

c = 1

(just for a bit of background, it's to work out highest possible sampling rate and bit depth with a given data rate. c is about audio channels so i have to include it even though it's 1 in this case)

OK, maybe I'm not as nifty as I thought I was.

3.3 - ns = 0

Surely you need to have a situation where you have n + s or n - s to be able to then substitute stuff around and find out the n and s values?

Or, I'm having a brain freeze.

Yeah i dunno mate, the simultaneous equation bit is a mystery although I haven't actually looked into it properly yet. The rearranging bit is ok though.

i've got x = n x s x c (c is always 1 here so i'm sacking it off)

I can work out the rearranged bit now but simultaneous is tricky.

It is a graph.  He may want one answer, but objective reality doesn't have just one.  It's a range of values, based on the domain of s (or n if you choose to solve for n).

There will be realistic values that you will put in based on music standards and shit like that.  It will then give you a range of realistic values.
