Dog may just not love being in a car. Dogs are not intelligent. I can't imagine the car is particularly hot in November.

This.

Our dog suffers separation anxiety, meaning when my Dad leaves the house he howls. To try and help that he takes him to the shops and leaves him in the car (to minimize the separation). Unfortunately he still howls, so I wouldn't presume.

I distinctly remember being stuck in an old Peugeot with the windows shut closed in 40 degree temperatures for hours during my childhood. Granted we were moving, but I feel as though the dog will survive.

Agree with the general consensus here, if it were summer then I'd say definitely do something about it. But meh.
