When's the last time we've played against 10 men? Got to be over a year now.

Stoke away?

Yup (well it was home)

Looked it up instead of watching the 2nd half. Last time an opponent has gotten a red card was Johnson for Norwich 28/1/2014, but Remy was sent off at the same time.

So the last time we've played against 10 men was vs Stoke 26/12/2013

Can't believe he's young. He looks 50 years old. Also who the hell is he? How did he get a high pressure game like this with no experience? The Premiership is corrupt for sure. It will come out eventually just like it has with Fifa, Platini et al.

He should have booked a Sunderland player in the first 6 or 7 minutes when they'd made about 5 fouls man. He was letting them (and Cattermole in particular) foul at will for 90 minutes and let us away with absolutely nothing. Fucking awful and it's about time these wankers were held accountable for performances like this and not wrapped up in bubble wrap by the FA.

Bullshit once again. With all the money they have, why aren't they fixing a huge problem like the refereeing in this league?

They don't need to fix the problem, as they don't see it as a problem.  As long as they give everything to the big four / five clubs and keep the staus qou then shite like today's biased performance in a match between the plebs at the bottom of the pecking order will go unnoticed or just swept under the carpet.

We keep hearing this little buzz word from people towards the refs, 'respect'

You know what it is, us fans will start respecting you when they start respecting themselves. Too often refs give away decisions because it's a big name player, because the crowd wants it (today), because a player has a reputation. Gone are the days when a referee will make decision as he see's it, he gives the decision depending on how much grief he's going to get throughout the match for it, how he can walk down the tunnel, how he is going to be spoken about after the match, and if he will be allowed to manage the big teams again.

Once referee's start booking players for diving, start showing yellow and red cards to the big name when they do wrong, start booking players for giving him grief, and start managing decisions on what happened not what will happen, only then should they deserve respect. We keep hearing that it's hard being a top flight referee these days. No it's not, a grass routes one where you have big burly men who can chase you is hard, being on a pitch surrounded by hundreds if not thousands of police officers, where you get escorted too and from the stadium, with everything on CCTV and TV is a fucking doddle. Fucking man up and do the job, if not then don't do it. If you can't manage the big games the same way as at other game then your not fit to referee.

But their 'product' is suffering from it. That's already the second game of ours ruined for the neutrals too for absolutely nothing. Haven't really watched a lot of other teams in the league but it must be happening in them too. Nothing kills the game for a neutral like a daft red card.

Nah, their product gained from it both times. Arsenal got their win, and Sunderland got to keep their record going against us, and it's a talking point that's going to drum up interest.

They're happy to keep it as is - the foreign fans will still lap it up as long as Man Ure, Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea are the driving force behind 'The Best League in The World'.  Outside of them the rest aren't even a foot note and are just in the League to be fed to the big clubs twice a year.

Honestly, how was he the best choice to ref this game?  I know the Manchester derby is obvs much more important, but giving a ref with only 25 games PL experience a derby like this is just asking for trouble.

How is this kind of refereeing be allowed to pass? Someone should make a video to send to the FA, with him pointing out Tiote's two fouls as he seems desperate to give him a yellow, while he later points out five fouls to Cattermole and lets him off. It's that kind of thing that just drives fans to insanity. As soon as he produced that yellow for Tiote, I felt like it'd be hard for us to keep 11 on the pitch. Sure enough, first semi legitimate excuse he could get to send someone off, the red card was out of his pocket. He'll probably even get a pat on the back for today.
