Go on then, it's that time. What have we got? A few starters for ten from my collection off the top of my head...

Bon Iver - Bon Iver

Ghostpoet - Peanut Butter Blues and the Melancholy Jam

Wild Beasts - Smother

PJ Harvey - Let England Shake

Zola Jesus - Conatus

Sigur Ros - Inni

SBTRKT - SBTRKT

...and the 'combined' critics top 30 based on end of year top ten, thanks to Metactitic

Found it quite hard tbh - seems a lot of the stuff I thought should make my list actually came out in 2010.

I've still not seen LC! live. I quite like the new album, though. I think they've evolved a bit, and I found the quality of this latest offering a bit more consistent. LC! normally serve up three or four belters per album but surround it with chaff, but I don't think there's a track on the new one I don't like. Hello Sadness and Every Defeat a Divorce (Three Lions) are my favourites like.

Go! Team's new album got fuck all acclaim, but there's some stonking tunes on it. They were class when I saw them in Feb. I love The Running Range and Buy Nothing Day in particular. I also keep trying to shoe-horn Yosemite Theme into videos of stuff I make.

EDIT: Have a listen to Rabbit!'s album, too. They're a bit similar to the Go! Team in that it's very 'playground-chanty' type music, but they're a bit more indie and less wacky. They're not very well known, albums on Spotify though.

Not that impressed with LC! though Pilko. Went to see them at Kings Student Union and it was decent but nothing too special.

Really? That was a pretty fun gig.

My list:

The Weeknd - House of Balloons

Shabazz Palaces - Black Up

Frank Ocean - Nostalgia

Atlas Sound - Parallax

Girls - Father, Son, Holy Ghost (even if chris owens is a massive dick)

Washed Out - Within and Without

Bon Iver - Bon Iver

Clams Casino - Instrumentals

Slow Club - Paradise

Das Racist - Relax (lulz)

Panda Bear - Tomboy

Toro Y Moi - Underneath The Pine

Los Campesinos! - Hello Sadness

Battles - Gloss Drop

The Antlers - Burst Apart

those are the notable records i can think of right now (for me)

It was alright...not as good as the other time I saw them (admittedly a vague memory from Leeds 2008 shortly after their debut album had come out). Wonder if I met you. The support were horrendously bad but quite funny between songs.

Wasn't a particularly good year for me. Bon Iver was clear and away my favorite.

An obvious pick for me, but Wasting Light by the Foo's is easily my most listened to album released this year. Brilliant album, on a par with their best.

Same for me, was a superb album.

Graveyard? Was this something I said I'd give a listen to but never got round to  I'll check them out.

Erm... I think I've become very set in my ways this year and probably haven't listened to anything you wouldn't know. I have a massive soft spot for Feeder, think they are generally very underrated, so I would recommend the Renegades album they released last year, it's less eclectic than their more recent stuff and more driven, but it's a cracking little album that went under the radar because they didn't release through a major publisher (or however it works).

I've listened to Boy Kill Boy - Stars and the Sea a lot too, it's quite indie in all honesty, but it's quite a nice album. I've also tried listening to Seasick Steve as well, some decent songs but haven't managed to really get through the whole album, but I'm kinda fascinated by his story.

Other albums off my head I've listened to a lot this year (but not from this year):

Taylor Hawkins and the Coataill Riders - Red Light Fever (has a bit of a Queen feel about a fair few of the songs).

The Black Keys - Brothers (another one I can't really seem to get all the way through)

+ the usual, Foo's, QOTSA, TCV etc.

Looking at my list, I clearly need to find some new music, I think Wasting Light is the only 2011 album...

Just listened to the first couple of tracks from Hisingen Blues, liking the sound of it...

yeah it's good man, first album worth a listen too - i posted hisingen in the music thread with a comment that lenny would be into it or summit, way too lazy to PM you or anything  just thought you might happen to look at that particular post on that particular page

i'm the same with needing new music man, crying out for it....going back through all the manics albums at the moment, including the 10th anniversary holy bible that was mixed for the US, canny good like...though it was always a great album

Ah right, sorry yeah I barely look in that thread for some reason, whenever I looked it seemed to be full of pop/dance/trance/stuff I'm not really interested in  :undecided:

Cheers mate I'll give you the verdict when I've got through the album. Sounded similar-ish (but a bit heavier) to some of The Parlor Mob's tracks. And I've just checked, and they released a new album in October. Something new to listen to  :frantic:

Edit: Actually it comes out in March, it's called Dogs, but they have a lot of their songs on their MySpace, and it appears the album might be able to be 'acquired'.

.... Never mind, it came out in Oct. March must be UK release or something.

Tut. Would expect better from you, Lenny...

A part of me died a little when you said you didn't like TCV tbh :undecided:
