NUFC transfer rumours in the press

“He is aware of Newcastle’s interest and likes the idea,” a source close to Aubameyang told the Newcastle Chronicle. “He was planning on staying at St Etienne until at least the end of the season. If there was a bid, though, he owes it to himself to listen.”

If that's true he sounds a better bet than Remy, even if he's not the preferred choice.

Mr only reservation is that Aubameyang seems to be more of a central striker than Remy. He has pace to burn though, which is something we're desperate for.

Considering the news about us expecting Remy to be a long drawn out saga, i would definitely drop him and go for Aubameyang.

He can play out wide too apparently.

Doesn't matter who we get out of those two just as long as we do.

Its not the greatest source but according to Whoscored these are Aubameyangs positions....

Positions: Attacking Midfielder (Left, Right) Forward

So if that is true he still fits.

Edit: He's played on the left of a front 3 on 5 occasions this season and as a CF 12 times so he definitely can play out wide.

I genuinely can't wait till he retires

I know, it will be like winning a cup!  Not long to wait now, though knowing our luck, the big galoot will become our next boss *shudders*

The whole Santon link is interesting, he is a Milan fan, and full backs never seem to go for much money, but as high as i rate him, Abate is still a significantly better player. Milan seem happy with Di Sciglio playing atm anyway so unless they matched the £6mil we paid, they wont be signing him and would they spend that much on a backup? unlikely. If he was to play left back though, then maybe...still surprises me that Taiwo had such a bad time there.

http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/newcastle-united/nufc-news/2013/01/09/newcastle-want-striker-and-defender-in-window-72703-32570592/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

NEWCASTLE United are still planning to bring in a centre-back AND a striker during the January transfer window.

The Magpies’ pursuit of Loic Remy is still very much ongoing, and they are hoping to take a step closer to signing the Marseille star in the next few days as they look to come to some agreement with the former European champions.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew did have a centre-back at the top of his wanted list earlier in the campaign.

But Demba Ba’s exit to Chelsea after activating a release clause has resulted in a bid for Remy during this window.

However, Newcastle’s need for a centre-back is also there for all to see and they are also continuing in their quest to sign a stopper during January, with targets in France and Holland thought to be on United’s radar.

And this has been underlined by United’s reluctance to allow Geordie boy Paul Dummett to make a quick return to St Mirren on loan.

Sources in Scotland say the Paisley club’s bid to renew his loan this week fell through.

And they told the Chronicle that they were asked to wait until the injury crisis clears on Tyneside first.

The SPL side are desperate to re-sign Dummett until the end of the season.

But with Newcastle skipper Fabricio Coloccini carrying a knock, James Perch injured and out of the Norwich game at the weekend and Steven Taylor unlikely to be fit for the trip to Carrow Road, Dummett has continued to train with the Magpies this week.

Pardew hopes to hand new signing Mathieu Debuchy his debut against the Canaries on Saturday.

Coloccini is also hoping to return to the first-team line-up, where he is likely to partner Mike Williamson.

Yet left-footed defender Dummett is likely to be on the plane for the clash with former Magpies manager Chris Hughton’s Canaries.

Dummett was left out of the Toon reserve squad to face Bedlington Terriers last night in the Northumberland Senior Cup.

The Wales Under-21 young gun didn’t play in the tie against the Northern League just in case he is needed to at Norwich.

But the fact that Northern Ireland youngster Shane Ferguson was included last night suggested that Dummett has overtaken the Derry lad in the pecking order at United.

Pardew stated the night Newcastle lost to Bordeaux in the Europa League that too few of the fringe players at United had grasped their chance in the 2-0 loss.

And he went on the record to say that Ferguson and James Tavernier “should be” out on loan gaining experience.

Dummett’s attitude has impressed the United backroom team since he returned to train with his parent club during Scotland’s winter break.

Yet the SPL side are eager to resurrect the loan deal before the window closes, and ideally want Dummett back for their Scottish League Cup semi-final with Celtic on January 27.

The old put down lots of words that tells nobody anything new.

The amount of sentences Ryder starts with the word "And".

How far does this tradition of shit writers stretch back for the Chronicle? Was Caulkin ever there?

Got that from Oliver, he used to do that all the time.

That's why I labelled it a tradition. Edwards is another one.

Caulkin's name shouldn't be in the same post as those.
