This stuff is complete bollocks like, The bloke said the other day we had a 2.5m bid accepted, now he says RMC say a 3m rejected.

What is it then ? total cobblers.  Cool as hookers nipple about this me.

L'Equipe said we had a 2.5m offer accepted and RMC said we had a 3m offer rejected, they obviously have different info and different contacts.

Or they're both wrong. I dunno mate, i'm so fed up with this window it's untrue.

I think we are seeing that our much lauded scouting system isn't actually anything special. In fact it is quite limited.

The scouting isn't the problem. The recruitment part is however.

Nope,  I think we are just finding players we would be expected to find. We have gone from being very poor in this department to simply average. There is no evidence of a wide network. Carr has a good eye and likes players with a pleasing style of play but that is as far as it goes.

Disagree completely.

The big problem we have is we only seem to focus on certain areas.

Hearing Carr say we won't look at South America was extremely disheartening.

What you and Village Idiot say is what I am trying to say myself,  and this is the reason why I think we are no more than average in finding players.

We have a good scout but we do not have a good network.

West ham have signed like 5 players already have they not? Don't really care much for this particular transfer but it's getting ridiculous that teams like West ham are more active than us when we are desperate for new players.

Well yeah, i feel exactly the same way and the strange thing is it happens every bloody year. But i still never seem prepared for how pissed off i'm going to get within about 10 days.

In some ways i just wish the window was only open during the summer.

That's what Allardyce does though - signs loads of players - a couple will work out and the others will be moved on fairly quickly.

Why watch a player you've already tabled a bid for? Would seem pretty pointless. If he has a shit game would they suddenly withdraw the offer?

We seem to still be doing so? I don't see what harm it would do "continuing" to research a player that you're currently involved in negotiations over.

Haven't kept up with this much the last few days, I'm more pissed off that we're wasting time and potentially part of our tight transfer budget on a backup left back than I am any of this West Ham stuff. It is fucking integral that we get a quality forward and centre half in and they should be working around the clock trying to make that happen quickly. If we lose points against Reading then that's another black mark against the tossers running the show.

It does seem like what some people thought might happen is coming to fruition mind, ie clubs are aware of our recent success for getting quality and value in the transfer market, selling clubs make our interest public, other buying clubs do what we never do and throw a bit more money at it to get the deal done.

In other news, it's 18th January. Get a fucking move on and be prepared to pay a touch more to save our skins FFS.

We do. The scouts aren't the problem. Its the wastes of space in boardroom and the manager who are bolloxing everything up.

Other clubs seem to be waiting for Carr to do the legwork and then gazumping us. It was only a matter of time, after Carr's (yes, Carr - eff all to do with Pardew) successes.

f*** me, feels like we're watching a episode of Storage Wars

Wheres Barry when you need him

Enjoy Storage Wars, but the Texas one is utter sh*te

Retracted our 2.5m bid? No such thing as a CA on these deals anymore? Am I missing something? Surely if a club bids for someone, its accepted. It should be done in good faith to let the club work the deal out? This nonsense is the complete opposite of actual business transactions too by the way. f***ing frustrating.

Right on. We need to add a no shop provision to our bids.

Yep. Exclusivity would be helpful to us. I think it's nonsense that our bids are getting highjacked or shopped to other clubs after we get them accepted.

Really poor on seller if that's true.

Our policy of backing down in "auctions" doesn't help either. We don't even low ball bid and increase to our "ceiling" it seems. We just offer what we can pay max, say to the seller take it or leave it,  fuck off if the deal requires any brain work. Obviously these deals aren't going to be clear, cut and dry anymore. We aren't even adapting to these  changing conditions either ffs.

Bollocks. You haven't got a fucking clue what goes on in these negotiations and neither has anyone else on here.

Of course I don't man. I'm speculating like everyone else on here.

Just frustrating that we seem to be resolved to only bid once and stop there. I'm saying we seem to be too strict in our policies and in return we are losing out on players.

We've already heard the board say we don't do bidding wars and we won't deal with complicating transfers with multiple agents etc. those are deals that require brainwork no? I mean im putting 2 and 2 together, but that clearly seems to be the case with many of our recent targets, if the rumors are to be believed.

except we did up our bid for de jong and we did deal with ba's multiple agents.

what you have to remember is that we know very little of what goes on.

I'm going to add that transactions are my trade. I work in acquisitions, so this process does intrigue me.

If you can't secure exclusivity In a deal, then a deal can collapse or the bogey price could move at any time. So fine, if in football that's not possible to secure exclusivity or whatever, then deal makers need to be aware of the volatility, which ours are aware of. So If we can't get our heads wrapped around that fact, and it pisses us off to the point we hold on our terms - then we won't sign the players we target unless the seller, the player, and his reps don't have other motives (in terms of fee, terms and other clauses). One of those parties can make the deal complicating, and as it stands we don't prefer to do those nor do we like to do them. Are the Club's deal makers wrong? I don't fucking know, but I'll point at the results from summer and January so far, and we've not signed the players we need.
