Yeah, at the moment there's a limited number of genres that would actually be worth playing on it. I'd expect to see far more interactive-movie type games appearing (in the vein of Dear Esther and whatnot), there's a fascinating amount of potential for that type of thing. Point-and-click-style puzzle/mystery games might make a return as well, sort of like RealMyst, where you just wander around a VR world interacting with the environment and solving shit... It'll be interesting to see how well it's supported for original IP in that sense. I think it's generally going to focus on experience-based games though, things that make you just go "holy shit I'm walking on the moon" or whatever.

I'd love to play Minecraft on this as well, would be pretty amazing to walk through some of the crazy worlds that people build.

I could imagine some real-life heart attacks. Fuck that, I'd be ripping the headset off every ten seconds.

Imagine Far Cry, walking through the beautiful jungles, totally at peace with your surroundings and enjoying every minute. Then a great big tiger roars in your ear and you see a flash of orange and black out of the corner of your eye. You would shit yourself.

Apparently a Japanese (:yao:) company have developed a prototype controller which you insert your erect member into and the characters on screen react accordingly  What a sorry sight that would be man.

Crazy money. Hadn't really considered the potential of Rift for social networking before, but I guess giving people the ability to "be" inside a virtual space together and socialise is potentially massive if done right.
