DEFENSIVE duo Davide Santon and Mathieu Debuchy are battling to be fit for Newcastle United’s visit to the Ethiad Stadium.

The pair are struggling with thigh and hamstring injuries respectively ahead of the club’s game against Premier League champions Manchester City on Saturday.

And the fixture at Eastlands could come too soon for the full-backs.

United manager Alan Pardew will err on the side of caution if he feels it would be a risk to play them.

Would probably make far more sense to stick with the first choice CB partnership against a team whose threat comes straight down the middle, like.

CBs first, then deal with the FB situation, always.

Jonas instead of Marveaux. Pardew will prefer Jonas for his workrate and defensive role against Man City. Marveaux to get involved mid-week instead.

Wigan have Norwich at home while we have Man City away. We could very realistically be 3 points off 18th by full time so can we try and win this game pls and not just "throw it".

We can try to win it, but that won't effect the actual outcome.
