Just looked up re players banned for life for betting, one of them was Tony Kay , had one bet and banned for life , others involved went to prison or fined thousands of pounds does that make Ivan Toney punishment look harsh, personally think he got away with a light sentence.

1) It's a perception problem - even if it's not happening it's veering in the direction of match fixing and it calls things into question.

2) What does that mean about the games he didn't bet on? Was he aware of injuries or other information no one else knows? Even if there's clearly no match fixing concerns it's basically akin to insider trading.

3) Probably less of an issue with the digital ease of gambling, but what if a player grow large gambling debts? Does he share information with the books or worse?

Fair points. Not against the ban fwiw, just think it's hypocritical when gambling's thrown down people's throats everywhere they look in the game. Also when it's literally the only thing they throw the book at people for. 8 months certainly isn't an insignificant ban.

Worth noting this was for actual match fixing.
