Just happy De Jong got a full 90 in, and came through it. Really looking forward to him catching up on his fitness. He is quality.

And looked awesome tbf. Don't care about his lack of pace Gini and Vurn are a quick enough pair behind him and he still got around the pitch well enough

Love watching him play tbh. He's not exciting in that he'll cut open a defence with a lung bursting (snigger) run or anything but he reads the game, knows where to be, and brings in other players. Would have him behind Mitrovic, Perez on the left, Thauvin on the right when everyone is fit.

Routine, comfortable and professional performance. Got after them early, went 2 up and simply held them at arm's length for 75 minutes. It's exactly what you'd expect a PL side to do to Northampton but it's something we'e struggled to do effectively for years now.

Thauvin's going to be a star, disappointed with Aarons and the rest did well enough. Ref was fucking awful too.

Shows how far we have falling when a 4-1 win at home to Northampton in the cup is considered cracking stuff. Good that we are through to the next round and it sounds like a promising performance, but when we start doing this at home to PL sides then we can get excited and giddy... We should be hammering your Northamptons at home all day long.

Do Sky Sports have an aversion to showing our goals or something?

Aye. Been waiting for ages now, wanting to see them on something that isn't a grainy vine.

You'll be lucky. They've not shown ours at all at any point.

How the first goal is scored (by Thauvin) I'll never know, David Buchanan had him marked left, right and centre and the boy has done a Bruce Lee karate kick into the corner – that's the quality that they showed in the vital moments.

I know. I'm sure they've done pretty much every game but ours. Going to give up now.

Look up.

Biggest domestic cup win since we beat Ipswich 4-1 under Sir Bobby in 2001.

Didn't we beat Stoke by the same scoreline Keegan's first game back as manager when he hadn't properly taken over yet?
