Half a decent season

He scored 4 goals from January till May in the best team in the league.  When he doesn't score he offers nothing.  He had half a decent season

He was injured, on and off, for most of that period.

With an injury rafa thought was in his head.  He's always injured

but we only had a week, and most of those days the training ground was shut due to the sports scientists so we couldnt change formation.

(the Coward actually said he couldnt start gayle today cos there wasnt enough time to change the formation).

Seriously?  Bruce came out with that?

"If we had played Andy and Dwight, then we’d have to change the whole set-up, and I don’t think we had time to do that.

"We’re getting used to playing in a certain way, it’s the way I want to play, but unfortunately, having come up with the system, we’ve been struck down by the loss of Almiron, Callum and Allan. It’s been very difficult to try to replace them."

Might have had more time if the players weren't off 3 days a week.

He needed to work on a new fucking system as soon as Wilson was injured. The cheek of the bloke.

Top managers change their set up during games and sometimes more than once.

Yeah but you wouldn't want to mess with a system which has been producing so many goals....

Did nearly score with that flick when he was actually in his correct position.

Only thing he did all game, other than a hilariously scuffed shot earlier as well.

Just needs to either play up front or not play, it’s pretty simple.

Correct and have two wingers who can feed the ball into the box. He is not a player who plays on the left or the right he’s a goal scorer only.

But he is not a goal scorer at this level. As he has proven many times over.

He’s more of a goal scorer than any other player in that team presently though. He’s not going to score from the wing either.

Doubt it, whatever you read into the 50k a week he is on, can’t see board handing another contract to him.

Wrong side of 30, and Bruce’s showing this season has only vindicated clubs previous mandate to be wary of over 30s! (Hendrick, deal for Ritchie who doesn’t play, signing of Carroll who’s scored 1 goal and doesn’t play, Shelvey’s goals down yet new deal (board will see goal output vs. cancer we see each week)

After performances this season from him and Carroll the board will override whatever say Snorlax has to say on the matter. No chance Charnley is giving him another deal. Whatever Rafa had to say on him will still be giving him lovers regret. Especially if Bruce relegates us all, even if he’s still in a job any say on a matter will be a cause Bruce shouting from the kids table.

New deal for Dwight Gayle — now will he get games?

Uncertainty swirls around Newcastle United at the moment, with Steve Bruce’s side just two points above the Premier League’s relegation zone with nine matches to play. But striker Dwight Gayle has committed his future to the club by signing a new three-year contract on reduced terms.

The 31-year-old’s deal was due to expire on June 30 but he has agreed an extension that will keep him at St James’ Park until the summer of 2024.

Gayle has started only two Premier League matches this season, scoring once against West Brom in a 2-1 win in December, but was selected for Newcastle’s 1-1 draw against Aston Villa earlier this month.

The striker then, however, watched Newcastle’s 3-0 defeat by Brighton from the bench, despite his side’s chronic lack of goals and the absence of the injured Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin.
