Reeks a bit of another Julio Arca type move to boost crowds and the image of the club. Not that it's necessarily a bad idea if they think he's also a good coaching appointment.

It's an impressive appointment tbf, as you allude to will be massive in terms of exposure. Fenton should have got a lot more out of them, being the only full timers in the league too.

Phillips still a massive rat like.

Do Shields not sell out all the time anymore?

Got to imagine he'll be able to bring in players as favour from any number of clubs given how many places he played/coached. Assuming he doesn't still live up here you'd reckon he'd not be coming unless he is going to be backed.

They got just under 2k on Saturday. Amazing levels of support for that level, could easily see them being a National League/League 2 club.

Yeah they're averaging just a smidge under 2k.

Think the ground at the moment holds upwards of 3k so there's still room to get more people through the door though. All their booze and catering is in house I think so they benefit quite a bit from the location - on a metro station but nowhere near any other pubs really - bigger attendances are a multiplier in terms of income.

Lovely lad is Mike, you'd have been fine.

You'd hope not, because at least with Arca he was clearly very good and you could sub him off.

Aye, saw their first game and they were brilliant. Saw their odds were 25/1 for the title but didn’t really have anything to gauge them against to think that was good or not. Regret it now.

I got on at 12/1, I feel your pain.

Would be nice to see them go on and win it .

As long as we don't cock it up, no reason why not. We do need to get more players in though, 3 subs on the bench tonight.

Heed won 3-1, 3 points clear top of the league.

Hope they go up, they have been superb all season and their football is a level above for their league.

Thought they were very average the other week when Blyth dismissed them, must have been an off day .

Aye, we usually play crap against Blyth, haven't beaten them in a canny few years.

  • 2 weeks later...

Morpeth were two up against York.

Results improving for the Minstermen after what surely was the club's nadir a few weeks back, losing 3-0 at home to Bradford Park Avenue. Only the FA Trophy today of course but still good to see.
