For that price we should absolutely be in for Dibling, would be a Hall/Livramento type signing where we don't necessarily need him now, but would be a great investment. That highlight reel is pretty impressive for an 18/19 year old in the Premier League. Was worried a little about his end product given his stats last season, but he's playing some lovely crosses and through balls in those clips, the problem was he was playing for one of the worst PL teams of all time

Just don't see where he fits with Elanga and Murphy filling out the places on our right side. I can't see us changing formation to facilitate a number 10, nor did I ever see Dibling play there last season.

We need to sign a proper midfielder such as Paqueta who has the attributes to both fill one of our midfield 3 roles seamlessly and also potentially offer that tactical flexibility as a bonus. Dibling isn't that imo.

I mean, yeah, but isn’t the point that for that price he’s not leaving Southampton in the first place.

You'd imagine if they've gone in at that price that the actual price they're willing to sell for will be well below the £75m or whatever it was that was being quoted 6 months ago. Unless they're following the Newcastle transfer playbook of making initial offers that are miles below valuation

We could see if it's possible to do a loan back to Southampton for a slightly reduced fee. Murphy is 30 so would be nice to have his successor ready and have Elanga & Dibling competing for the RW spot the next 7-8 years.

Dibling would help salvage this summer somewhat

only a bit mind you

but it’s the Tino Hall type i thought Trafford was going to be for us

Instead we got Ramsdale who is the Barnes equivalent

Dibling at that price is the sort of player Chelsea will buy and flog for £45m a year later.

Already had him once and the wee gimp got homesick. Fuck knows how he’ll be on Merseyside.

Yeah anything in and around that £30m bracket and it's a sound investment and should be one of those opportunistic signings you make even if the squad doesn't necessitate it right now.

Other clubs do it to us and we should be able to do the same to other prem teams without CL this year.

However it's not gonna happen is it. Not when we still need 2 strikers, 2 midfielders and a CB. The transfer teams heads are probably spinning right now trying to multitask.

I'm in awe, making me hyped for Ross Wilson coming here

If Elon Musk died he'd come back as a third choice premier league goalkeeper

Just can’t see it

Ashworth almost had him when he was 16 until Chelsea divebombed us at the last minute (sounds familiar).

Might’ve dodged a bullet since he only lasted 3 months before going back to the Southampton Academy - but on the flipside the issues he had at Chelsea (felt ignored and on the outside amongst all their talent) probably wouldn't have occurred up here
