Other clubs' transfers

I mean, of course us having an offer accepted forced Man C to make a decision at that point, and if they thought there was value in the deal they might as well make it. But he was responding to your starting assertion that:

What do you think "one of your options" means in the sentence from my post? One of the players that Man City might want to have as the starter if they don't get someone else. They bough him when they had to (because we were bidding), but are still open for other GK options. How does that translate into that they only signed him to prevent us from having him? My point is this is only possible because some clubs can afford to make that decision, since they can spend 3-4 times more than other clubs. He is only there as a starter if a better option doesn't come along. A goalkeeper they paid 30m for. They could sign 5 of them if they want.

You seem to know a lot about City's decisions and why they've made them mate

Why are they trying to sign Donnarumma after spending 30m on Trafford? Assuming it's true. Is Donnarumma going to sit on the bench? Or did they want to pay 30m to have a backup in Trafford? I'm waiting to hear the possible explanations that you can think of. I won't hold my breath for it. It doesn't seem like you have an alternative explanation.

Yeah income disparity is obviously a massive problem in competitive balance, though we're also obviously still far richer than most. The general principle of PSR and clubs not massively exceeding their means isn't inherently bad, it obviously just doesn't work well when clubs have such vastly different means.

In general though, at whatever level, if a club can get a good player at a good price they'd be silly to ignore it.

I wouldn't have any reaction at all if it wasn't for the fact that Man City are now trying to sign Donnarumma. It's like when Chelsea sign 10+ players and then more than half of them doesn't even play, while someone else would have played them every week. Just because they can. That's what the imbalance does.

I've heard that's he's not great with the ball at his feet and doesn't come off his line often, any truth in that? If so, it doesn't sound like a very Pep signing.

I know nothing about him, but seems risky given he's very young and doesn't have a lot of first team experience (and none in a major league).

Riskier than Onana?

One we should absolutely be in for.

I prefer Elanga for our play, just a shame how it’s aligned we’ve not been in a position to make that move.

Hopefully Everton go down so he’s available again next summer :D
