If I was a Brighton fan I’d be so confused. It’s both the best time to be their fan in history and yet everything about how they act means they’ll never ever achieve anything meaningful. At what point do you ask, is just being in the premier league every season the only thing that matters to me? Does selling our players at every opportunity make us the most soulless club in that league too?

Honestly not sure Chelsea are even in the business of building a football team anymore. Seems like it's all about buying and selling, stockpiling assets, moving money and players around in order to make as much money as possible, they're a hedge fund just investing and trading in human beings and the cash made/lost is the overriding priority. The football is just the thing that the assets happen to do in the background, weird and very peculiar way of running a football club

Then again they've just won the Club World Cup so who the fuck am I to criticise the way they operate ???

We should have listened to Boehly when he told us that what mattered was “human capital” he meant it in the most literal sense possible

Might be a reactionary opinion, but fuck it, as an external observer, I never feel like Brighton actually ‘go for it’. They insist on selling their best players at a time when they’re threatening to have a complete squad.

There’s like an implicit acceptance within them that they’re at their limit and can’t go further.

They're the RB Leipzig of the Prem.

Being a Strasbourg fan must be such a joy. Knowing your raison d'etre is to serve as a gym to train up the next batch of Chelsea benchwarmers. Imagine getting excited about a signing and the first thing you see is the player photoshopped in a Chelsea shirt.
