Not going to engage with any of the rest of that  but are you talking about multiclub ownership or having another team that you support, albeit to a lesser degree?

I'll have teams I'll look out for and hope they have a positive result, that's either due to a person linked to them that I like, or through association, like I look out for Colchester and Stranraer results as I once had a good FM save with them, I look out for Real Betis results as I stayed opposite their stadium when visiting Seville, as well as local teams obviously.

But the thought of actively having a "second team" that I follow and actively support is bonkers.

Oh the support bit.

Couldn't have put it better myself, except I'm not really that bothered if they have a positive result.

As always TCD is labouring a point which didn't really need to be made in the first place, but at least it's coherent, whereas I can't agree with Coco's assertion that getting around PSR rules is like pimping out your adulterous wife.

That wasn't really my assertion at all. It was simply a crude analogy of how most of us can rationalise and tolerate a thing we love doing something that we don't agree with, while at the same time pointing out how ridiculous it would be for us to actively encourage the worst type of behaviour. Skirting around the PSR limitations is one thing, but the selling stuff to yourself, BlueCo nonsense that Chelsea are doing is an extreme that I don't think many fans would be very pleased to see, let alone actively champion for.

More specifically, youd have to be an absolute weapon to use it as a stick to beat your own club with.

"How fucking disgraceful that my club isn't flouting the rules like everyone else, shame on them."

Its ok to think you are the cleverest person in the room on one subject, but when you think you are the cleverest person in the room on every subject, theres likely something wrong with your brain.

Always found the idea of a second team utterly bizarre.

For example so many people over here say they support Liverpool and Celtic. Well what happens if they play each other in a competitive game? "Oh then I'd want Liverpool to win." Well you don't fucking support Celtic then.

Also really think we should stop using the club's ownership statement of them saying they wanted to win the league in 5-10 years when they first started

The Premier League and others have done everything possible since that statement to make it impossible

Not quite the case - Staveley telling the world ‘we will win (insert every trophy here) came after the LC Final loss in 2023, and Al Rumayyan’s ‘win will be no.1’ in the documentary is from the same season - well over a year after the FMV stuff was added to the rules.  They made the claims, not us.

I'd probably say I have a second team in Leyton Orient. It might be a factor of growing up in London - there are likely to be multiple serious clubs in your neighborhood that end up being rivals but multiple others that never (or barely ever) cross paths with yours so they are sort of like younger brothers. Dad and I are Spurs fans but if they weren't playing or we couldn't get to an away game we'd just get a number 34 bus to the O's. They're rooted in the community my Dad's side of the family grew up in - he was born on the outskirts of Clapton and way back when (originally?) they were called Clapton Orient. My best mate at Primary school was an Orient fan (after his Dad) and they'd take me to away games occasionally too.

Obviously if it was Spurs v Orient I'd want Spurs to annihilate them, but I'd want Orient to win just about any other match they play. I still go occasionally and was gutted when they lost in the playoffs, but it helped that they had a couple of Spurs loanees.

Not an option of course in a one-club city.  I know a couple of lads from south of the water who go to Gateshead semi-regularly, and Gateshead in the fifth tier are the only club locally who have traditionally been anywhere near league status.  I'm not from Gateshead though, I'm from Newcastle, so that was never an option as far as I'm concerned.

Eh I don’t support Palace I just wish them  well. For my formative years we were in different divisions, rarely crossed paths. When we did/do it’s a Newcastle win in my heart every time it’s not even a debate.

But Palace vs anyone else and I want Palace to win.

Morpeth town ?

I’m from South London and I like Palace. Not enamoured with their Chairman but, they do seem to give local lads a chance.
The other option is Chelsea and I can’t do that for some very, very strong reasons.

It's just empty PR talk and I can't believe how often the quotes are brought up here. They are not going to say 'we hope to make Newcastle an upper midtable team in the near future and hoping their valuation goes up while making the public image of Saudi Arabia a bit better in the process'.

Of course it is, I know that - but there's plenty who think that they're serious and defend them thinking that they're actually going to make us a super club.  At the end of the day, they said it, they should be accountable for bullshitting the support - somehow Staveley and PIF seem to have a lower degree of accountability than any of their predecessors.  NUFC has been ran by bullshit merchants for decades.

Now that our drama is over I'm finally able to look around and the Forest situation is going to get spicier.

Nuno just left out most of his new transfers from the Europe squad, including Zinchenko and club record signing Hutchinson.

This has to be Nuno just flipping Edu and Marinakis off because he can.

To be fair, he has a bloated squad, and probably most players he didn't even want. So he has to make cuts and he was not going to cut the guys that got him there.
