I can’t work out if the apologists are just stupid or are they paid shills?

Bishop probably has several people posting on here regularly to try and influence opinion, or just cause infighting..

I can't believe how people are attacking his other businesses. That's never on, it's a disgrace to see people do that.

That said, there needs to be a protest, but based on the club and not his other honest businesses. This could affect Sports Direct Share Prices, and I'll be honest, I have a few shares in it, and there's no reason to attack his business over this.

I hope the protest against his disgraceful handling of the club goes on though, but it should leave his business alone

So was this guy really an Ashley cronie or just a Makem on the wind up ?

He's one of those people who defends the McCann's all over social media I bet.

I know it's totally immature. But I can't help thinking of the paddy he would chuck it we had 52,000 people on Saturday singing Ashleys got a tiny cock, do da do da, Ashleys got a tiny cock, oh the do da day  :)

Not really helping matters as such but it would be funny nonetheless.

If he was paying himself back this loan with intention of selling club at reduced rate I think I could accept whats going on, but you just know the 128 million TV money from last season plus net profit this year will be pocketed and loan will remain.

Accounting-wise this won't happen.

A good chunk of the TV income will have been used in the running of the club, mostly on wages. Until the numbers come out we can only guess where the excess TV money is sitting.

I know, I just mean accounting-wise the fat cunt cannot move those money out from the club into his own pocket unless

1. The loan is repaid

2. The club is sold (accumulated profit realised)

3. A dividend is paid

4. Licensing rights are transferred to MASH and a license fee paid

5. The club loans him £xm

fyp

I'm sure our accountant members can come up with a much more thorough list.

A banner/chant at games - just something simple like

"Sports Direct are rubbish" or "Shop at DW sports" would really piss him off.

No swearing, so it doesn't get banned on not broadcast.

Then easy to do with A4 cards or whatever when the banners get banned.

A plane over the stadium might work well too...

Like it 👍

Something like “we all shop at DW Sports” to the tune of Yellow Submarine.  It would sound nice and clear, he’d be raging

Don’t get this determination to plug DW so much like...

Deter from SD, fine. But if an alternative NEEDS to be plugged then keep it local and go with Start Fitness.

Good shout but they're not really a rival outside of Newcastle. Needs to be something people outside of Newcastle can resonate with

Because Ashley and Whelan have history, plugging DW would be more likely to get under his skin.

It’s just another way to chip away at him.  Not sure why you’d be against it if that’s what people want to do.

View of an Evertonian taken from the Guardian comments page:

I was lucky enough to live on or around Tyneside for nearly 20 years. I taught at Newcastle College at the main site in Rye Hill and the John Marley School/Centre in Benwell for quite a lot of that time and when not travelling across the A69 and down the M6 to watch Everton, I occasionally watched the magnificent side Keegan built in the 90s lift the city’s inhabitants. Just before that era, fellow Huytoner (and fellow pie worrier) Micky Quinn was knocking them in for fun for them. I’ve a lot of affection for the club and area.

It’s a cliché, but nevertheless true, there is nowhere I’ve ever been to quite like Newcastle on a match-day. As I’d sit, pissing my life away, in one of the many excellent dens of iniquity, usually on or around the Ouseburn Valley, the atmosphere flowed around me at times, like a warm comforting blanket of hope, solidarity and a hefty dollop of gallows humour (Gallowgate humour?). It is something I still miss.

As an outsider looking in, I was privileged to witness how the near success of a football team and the swashbuckling way they played the game seemed to lift a whole city. During the period of the ‘entertainers’ it seemed to my febrile imagination that the average Geordie grew a few inches taller with pride during that era. I left the area for the Northumberland hills three days after ‘Sir Bobby’ died in 2009 and still have very close friends who are season ticket holders. (Or more accurately ‘were’ season ticket holders– a couple of them have jacked-in for this season, picking their future games, worn down by ‘mendacity and lack of interest’ from the owner)

This is why it affects me to witness the seeming complete lack of responsibility and care from Mr Ashley. For me, an unashamed romantic with perhaps a false sense of how important football is to a city and its inhabitants, Ashley’s period of ownership has been almost criminal in its neglect. I absolutely empathise with the Newcastle Central Labour MP Chi Onwurah who argues that Ashley has been ‘exploiting their club, their fans and their local community’ for far too long.

For those who gloat about this, and there will be quite a few, there always is; consider how the present piss take of ‘fit and proper’ test might one day apply to some carpet bagger who buys a controlling share of your club and uses your hopes and dreams as a vehicle to further their own agenda and give nary a hoot about your ambition for a successful football club. There is absolutely nothing in place to stop this happening.

I wish them well in the coming months, but if the very excellent, proud and fiercely loyal Benitez finally runs out of patience, and I think Mr Ashley might just push him too far, as it’s what he specialises in - there may be a long hard season in front of them.

No club ‘deserves’ success or failure, nor to be a natural inhabitant of the top flight in English football – but a season without a trip to the Newcastle away game always feels a bit bereft to me.

I hope they get a solid mid table finish – but I fear more dark days may be heading for ‘The Toon’

My guess is anywhere between 10th and 14th with Benitez – almost certain relegation and a panic replacement without the effervescent Spaniard.

I'm loving her calling him out, unfortunately it will come to nothing, as she says he just ignores anything he doesn't want to answer.  Which is what he'll do about the lie she's called him out on in that response (re not speaking to them beforehand).

Brilliant! thank you :)

That is a very well thought out response, she outmatched him at every turn there.

To be fair it's like outdoing an amoeba.

Not easy, he can ride a bike and eat an apple at the same time.
