astraguy
Can see this creating abit of debate and i'll only go by the music i like but please join in- RnB-R Kelly can't even see a debate here with the songs he has written for others or sung himself Pop- Micheal Jackson Hiphop- 50 cent this will create debate but this dude got me and many many more people into rap and changed the game competently with mix-tapes and of course gave us G-unit and run the scene for years

astraguy
separate the artist from the art. If we didn’t do that, there is so much shit we wouldn’t be able to listen to or be enlightened or entertained by using such ridiculously high standards we will never know if true or not

Disco
Agreed. R Kelly and Jackson are masters of their art. Watkins too, bit of a harder and dirtier version though. And then Harris of course who bridged the arts to become a leader in three fields. Painting, music and bucking kids.
wormy
separate the artist from the art. If we didn’t do that, there is so much shit we wouldn’t be able to listen to or be enlightened or entertained by using such ridiculously high standards we will never know if true or not Is it not a bit awkward to separate the art from the artist on this particular occasion when 99% of the art is about banging and 100% of the allegations against the artist are about said banging being either non-conseual or underage? Papavasiliou
Speaking of R. Kelly, has anyone watched that Surviving R. Kelly doc series that came out the other day? Got a few episodes into it over the weekend. They've gotten a surprising number of people involved from what you'd class as his inner circle. Couple of brothers (one insisting that being attracted to kids isn't a bad thing while being interviewed in his prison jumpsuit), ex-manager, security, few backup singers/dancers, his ex-wife and ovbiously loads of kids he was bucking. John Legend randomly getting involved evey now and again for seemingly no reason at all is a bit out of place. Mental how he kept getting away with all that shit and how everyone around him knew about it but didn't say owt.
AyeDubbleYoo
Is it available in the UK? I used to love his music... always thought he was properly sleezy but had no idea of the extent of the stuff he'd done. Can't really listen to him any more, doesn't help that most of the songs are about touching people up.
