Glenn Tells Fans: Bring Your Scarves

GLENN Roeder is hoping Newcastle United's fans will keep up their recent scarf-twirling as they give their full backing to his bid to reach the Carling Cup semi-finals.

Chelsea are the visitors to St. James' Park on Wednesday night for a quarter-final date.

Seven days earlier, the Magpies lost narrowly 1-0 at Stamford Bridge in a Premiership meeting between the teams, but Glenn is hoping home advantage will work in his favour this time around.

And the manager is in no doubt that the Geordie fans can help his players against the champions.

Since the club gave out free scarves to fans at the Portsmouth game on November 26, supporters have continued to bring them to games - and goals in victories against Pompey, Reading and Watford have been celebrated with a flurry of scarves being waved.

Glenn said: "One of the great features of our fans lately has been the scarf twirling and I would love that to become synonymous with the name of Newcastle United, I really would.

"The players love it too, so let's not see it die gradually away, but let's keep it going.

"Let the scarves feature become synonymous with Newcastle United."

Don't forget - tickets are still on sale for this game, and there will also be cash turnstiles to pay on the night at the following locations:

SJH NW Corner 9 & 13

SJH NE Corner 35 & 36

SE Corner 52 & 53

SW Corner 71 & 72
