Nobody's full of hell, I'm incredibly happy as it happens. It just feels like I've stumbled into a flat-Earth society meeting or some kind of "Covid is caused by 5G" thread.

Be optimistic, sure, but maybe just don't be utterly delusional? Acknowledge there's actually a chance of things not working as you want them to, rather than pretending with utter conviction that there's 0 chance of it not. Because I genuinely worry for some people in here if things DON'T work out, because they're that high up on whatever they're smoking that they're going to have a hell of a fall back to Earth.

There's a massive difference between optimism and crazy. But sure, I'll let you all get back to it. Enjoy.

Another one on my ignore list……ffs where do these people come from…..since this story broke 14 months ago, bugger me if’ the wind up merchants havn’t evolved into a full blown “fuck you” brigade………I’m fine with anyone with a different opinion or optimism to me, it’s when they come in here and piss on our lovely chips all the time…..even if we are deluded and refuse to acknowledge the fact that the takeover won’t happen, at least allow us to wallow in our own gratification, smoke our own rollups and refuse to believe the world is round…that’s what this thread is all about.

I'm not negative. I'd absolutely love this to go through. But wanting something doesn't make it any more likely to happen. I'm positive but realistic.

Also realism, or negativity if you prefer, is a psychological defence mechanism. For example, if I say something good won't happen and you say it will, then if it does I'll be happier than you because I'm surprised and am going from a lower base position too so see a bigger change in my mood whereas you just have your expectations confirmed that it the good thing did indeed happen just as you expected, that's not even really cause for celebration when you think about it?

On the flip side, if the good thing doesn't happen then I've got less distance to fall. My expectations are merely confirmed whereas you come crashing down.

Being negative, or realistic, actually makes you happier in the long-run.

Like I said, very odd!

Why do you come in this thread Chris? There's 2 threads, 1 is for positivity which is this 1, the other is for whatever you like.

So why are you posting your negativity in the positivity thread?

Chris is obviously the wrong sort of expert for this thread and should leave it to the real experts.

Good old Joey L. Thanks for your valued input as ever in this particular thread. Want to give us any more of your expert negativity?

You said it [emoji38]

"Don't give us false hope", "The mental anguish is too much", "I'm exhausted"... Some people are scared to allow themselves to believe that Mike is even trying to sell the club.

Personally, I feel really really happy about NUFC right now. We don't have to worry about relegation anymore, watching the mackems is a hoot and I'll either be watching a proper football team next season or doing the garden on saturdays. It's shit or bust and I'm mentally ready for either.

Just to piss on your chips, that, funnily enough, wouldn't need to be disclosed because it would not be relevant to the substantive issues of the case. ;)

The most sense spoken in this thread. I’m loving the positive noises recently but some people will literally believe anything if it backs up their positivity bias

Some of the same ‘positive’ people were saying it was good news PIF pulled out formally. It’s all a bluff, they said...

Mike Ashley could sign an indefinite contract for NUFC to remain in his grubby hands until football ends and we’d have people telling us it’s part of Keith’s strategy

Here they all come. Think we have the full committee now [emoji38]. Quick everyone, stop being positive until they get bored again.

A bit like when losing in their attempt to get beloff removed from the arbitration panel was good news and a deliberate strategy.

So just let them, man

How's it hurting you if some people just want to be blindly optimistic ?

Positive v negative as some sort of battle is absolutely ridiculous, and makes everyone on both sides look stupid.

Just debate the stuff like normal people FFS.

It will always come down to this as long as we have two threads for the same topic.

Can I just get out in front of any more Conspiracy Theorist/QAnon comparisons with regards to our "delusional" beliefs?

I think it's a disingenuous and ugly comparison. No positive believer here is asking for, nor would instigate through violence, political change or intimidation of negativists. There is no real world side-effect to being heads-in-sand about this stuff. There is no offsite where disinformation and hate is spread. QAnon and the like are actually dangerous because of what they say AND do.

And at the end of the day most if not all of us admit the belief is at best tenuous. People roleplaying in this fantasy shouldn't feel threatening to anyone.

I’m all for the positivity. What Qatar mag was saying has got me going a bit.

my only point is there is nothing wrong with realism. Things change constantly. That’s ok

That's correct, there's another thread for that. But you knew that anyway...

100% it’s absolute bollocks

I literally said I was feeling positive lately and I still got lumped in with ‘being negative’
