samptime29
I've played 60 hours of Assassin's Creed Odyssey but given up now. No urge to play anymore. And that's not say I haven't enjoyed it. I paid £15 in sale, and overall very fun game, and I feel I have got my money's worth. Just too big, and too much to do.

Nattfare
ELEX The combat in this game is 50 shades of turboshit. I was complaining to the gf how much I dislike the combat in Assassin's Creed: Origins, but the combat in that game could be considered a masterpiece compared to ELEX. It is slow, sluggish, unresponsive and the enemies ignores any hits made on them. Even power attacks they behave like they didn't happen and will bulldozer through you and they show no indications on when they will attack. Oh and it has a stamina bar that depletes after three swings. Dodging also removes stamina.

When do you get the time to play? Do you have the discipline to time-limit yourself? I’m the one in the family who gets up early to deal with the dogs etc. I used to be a late night gamer. If I let myself into Rimworld I’m not sure when I’d sleep.

Elric
Pretty much all games, these days. Can't remember the last one I actually finished. Tend to just get what I want from them then discard, and I'm totally ok with that
Guest Biggsbond14
Just cause 4 was shit or was it just me, using this grapple thing and firing it and wouldn’t pull me up the slope and cliffs, no amount of trying and it worked twice but not enough to keep it from Xbox live so no payment

terradark
Probably Planet Zoo...Trailer: "Build an inspring and creative zoo for a variety of animals to thrive and be enjoyed by visitors"....Reality: "Play for 10 minutes and just turn off the game because you're tired of this zoo....the tour is over"
OpenC
Both the Ori games. They're so fucking dull, man. Metroidvanias are 100% my thing but I just can't get on with these games at all, they put me to sleep. They look lovely, of course. Didn't help that I got them on Gamepass (I felt the same about Hollow Knight when I got it free, it didn't click until I paid £12 for it) but I just don't get the attraction with these ones. It will appeal to a small community of people who have the right mindset for it and are willing to invest a significant amount of time, first into learning the controls and then what the engine can offer. I can imagine a lot of people will have the same experience of playing for less than an hour and moving on, because there is a fairly steep learning curve to overcome before you can get too much back from the game. I think the genre itself is a really tough sell these days, as there is a big focus on creativity through adding detail, which becomes a massive time-sink in a genre that is all about wasting away hours at a time. It feels a little at odds with so many other game genres where the appeal is often in that you can pick up and play very quickly, then move on again. Planet Zoo is different; it definitely works if you ever have the time to give it, but I can certainly relate to your thoughts.

Surprised by this like, think the Ori games (along with Hollow Knight for different reasons) are the defining Metroidvanias of the last decade. OpenC
Aye, just can't get on with either of them. Wanted to love them, but found them just a bit on the insipid and dull side. Maybe one day; like I say, I wasn't feeling Hollow Knight to start with either and now every time I play that it gets closer to my #1 GOAT. The setting and the atmosphere were great, and I thought the skill progression was perfectly paced. This part was one of my favourite sequences in any video game ever, completely came out of nowhere and made me feel like I was Neo. Remedy were onto a really good thing with Alan Wake when they made their one in-game gimmick a disadvantage that forced you to do combat in a certain way rather than something that turned you into an unstoppable superhero in Quantum Break and arguably Max Payne. I only played the demo of Control but it looks like more of the same, is that wrong?

Definitely worth giving them another go when you're in the mood. It's more about how the game mechanics interact with your upgrades in Ori, making it really satisfying to play. Hollow Knight's a funny one for me, I love it in spite of what I think is pretty dull art direction. Everything feels grey.
La Parka
Blackguards. A good rpg systemwith a shit game tagged on. Brutally hard and resources are so tight you barely get a chance to play. I've struggled through a few hours but it's not worth it. I wish it was slightly more generous as it's got so much promise. OpenC
It was on Gamepass so nothing lost but there was so much to read before I even got to move the map around or anything the first thing the tutorial made me do was to click and hold one of the thumbsticks. If that's the simplest thing to do in the game, it's totally not for me Edited March 30, 2022 by OpenC
