OoOGazOoO
Just been reading that apparently he said to Shay Given, that Isak's drop in quality post cup-final, was very noticeable yet he couldn't get a game! Interesting.
Fenham Mag
Watched him today, it’s actually pretty sad how far he was off it, was not nice to watch. Not sure what the club was playing at offering him a PAYP deal.

Superior Acuña
I feel like this guy's importance to us gets overlooked, probably mainly because of how poor he was in the last 18 months and because of how good Isak was. He's our third highest scorer in the PL era, crucial goals to keep us up under Bruce and then the top scorer as qualified for the CL for the first time in a generation. Hope as time goes on his importance is recognised.
Conjo
I don't really value his importance to the club pre-takeover as I saw him as an annoying get out of jail card at a time where I actively wanted the club relegated to force necessary changes. He basically had one important season for us as far as I'm concerned, which was when we qualified for CL.

If we had gone down there was no guarantee the PIF takeover would ever have happened.

We'll never know, but before the takeover was on the horizon the most realistic way to get any positive change was for the club to cost Ashley money to keep afloat, thus increasing the chances of him selling up. Wilson, ASM, Willock, Lascelles. without one of those four we are in League One still owned by Ashley.

Without ASM, we weren’t even getting that far up the pitch. There was a stat floating around about the 33 game mark of asm’s first season. Without him in the team our points average was easily relegation form. With him it was close to champions league. It’s why Bruce allowed him special treatment. Even back then we had multiple better players in Lascelles’ position. Not sure what he did other than kiss Bruce’s arse at every opportunity.

Chris_R
I think we'd have been likely sold in the second division, but not to anyone with a shred of ambition. That >>>>> Ashley, but PIF >>>>> that. We got lucky.

Less likely to be sold to an ultra rich owner yes, but more likely to be sold in general. Literally anything was better than continuing with Ashley. I wasn't even particularly interested in PIF wealth, I just wanted someone competent that was willing to maximize income and only use the money the club could generate to be the best it could be. Debatable...look at the chancers Ashley was touting us to...Barry Moat and the like. Wealth doesnt guarantee competence where owners are involved...look at Blackburn with their Venkys debacle. Even Radcliffe with Man U. I dont recall what he paid for his 25% of them, but could have easily got us 100%and have change left over, and his decisions with them have been comedic

This isn't true at all. Why would Ashley sell us at a loss when he knew that with a small amount of investment he could get us back into the prem (he'd done it twice before) and sell us for double the value? It made zero sense for him to sell at a huge discount in the championship.

Zero chance Ashley would sell at a loss in the second tier I reckon. All just opinion, of course.
