However an investigation needs to be done into collusion between the Officers that are/were there and those that work there as its hard to believe that all these parties went on without their knowledge, especially if the story that alarms were set off twice at o e of the Christmas parties is true. Aye exactly, only restrictions we have are work from home guidance and mask wearing by law on public transport and in shops. So all that will be gone from the 26th and 'guidance' only. I think it's pretty clear there was a massive overreaction to the potential of Omicron back in December, fair enough to be honest as they have been so slow to act throughout the pandemic so I get them playing it safe. Scotland and Wales have embarrassed themselves mind, fucking up hospitality right before Christmas, when England has kept on and has been proven right to keep everything as it was, restrictions brought in last month have done nothing like and Omicron here is following exactly the same trajectory as South Africa by exploding then subsequently dropping just as quick. It's over. Here's to normality!

Is that not because England don't do PCR tests any more? Pretty decent way to reduce your positivity rate.
St. Maximin
Sounds like some good news then. We need SAGE to share a highly unrealistic ‘worst case scenario’ fast to limit the optimism.

duo
1 minute ago, Magpie said: No different to a bad flu though is it? We can't eradicate covid so what option is there? We could try and keep infections levels low through continued mask wearing at least until the pandemic is over globally. The elderly and the vulnerable are the people who have suffered the most during this pandemic, first through shielding and then with the fear of catching it. I look at countries like Japan where they don't have laws to make people wear masks but everyone does just out of out courtesy for others. And regardless of what people say if everyone wears them it does work - Japan has had a far lower death rate than the UK, and they also have one of the oldest populations. Just one simple thing would make a world of difference IMO.
Adam
Be bit silly to remove the mask rules on public transport and shops. People have to use these and anything we can do to limit the risk to them and others makes sense. Thousands of old people sent to their quiet death. Thousands of others left alone for death to inevitably come to them because of our inaction. Even worse its seemingly not destined to stay on our conscience, if it was ever there to begin with.
