OpenC
6 hours ago, Clay said: Haha I went through a pretty similar thought process before picking mine up. I also realised that I'm far too cheap to upgrade to a 4k TV any time soon so getting the S was perfect for me. I've probably played more games since I got it than I have in years although Hades is getting most of my attention at the minute. I'm sure Seikro will get the S/X optimised upgrade at some point, never played it though, why is it shit? surprised with you being such a soulsborne connoisseur that you dislike it. Speaking of old 360 games, I picked up Lost Odyssey in the gold sale a couple of Weeks back for £4.99, can't wait to play that again. I'll not derail another thread with my thoughts on Sekiro there's a thread full of my thoughts on questionable design choices and why it's more a chore than a pleasure. I think it's already been optimised but where the SX runs the One X version which had no frame rate cap and as a result goes to 60fps, the SS apparently runs the One S version which was hard capped at 30 so the new hardware can't just do its thing because the code limits it. As I say, it's not that I'd be buying it again any time soon anyway Watched the Digital Foundry videos on this and concluded that I was being a proper fanny comparing the PS5 running at around 50fps to the Series S running at around 40fps (and additionally, a Series S was actually available to buy and priced reasonably). I mean, I played Blight Town on a 360 I'll be ok Edited February 15, 2022 by OpenC
Si
I'm waiting to see if it runs on a PS4 I need a new TV first before I upgrade to the next gen. If it's serviceable on a PS4 I'll be buying it straight away.
OpenC
Looks fine. I was going to just do it that way myself. This is apparently a base PS4.
Froggy
Good to see Clay back. Reminds me of the days when I absolutely trashed him at Wipeout after only playing for an hour or two.

Dokko
Is this going to be too souls like for me, or doe the open world rescue it a little to where i can go away, do other things and come back and try again?
OpenC
It looks to me like Souls with a jump button and more places to go. If you didn't like the way Souls did things, it's unlikely that this will change your mind imo. Wait for reviews at least
Cf
From what I've read it's "easier" than previous titles. But that easierness comes from giving the player more options in terms of how to go about things, be it which are you choose to go through, builds, weapon skills, stealth, etc. I expect it to still be difficult. And higher difficulty than most games. But this is Froms first AAA release basically. They'll be wanting to make it land and doing that won't be having Father Gascoigne two hours in. Later on in the game for sure. But I get the impression it's the most accessible thing they've made this far.

Cf
If you preload it then it unlocks at midnight on Thursday for console and 11pm for PC apparently. Why is it only Wednesday!? Hurry the fuck up week. In terms of the game what builds are people thinking? I want to try a magic build at some point but think I'll start with something dex based for quick melee and archery for range. Maybe a dash of some magic for utility. khay
At least for xbox you can change your timezone to New Zealand as well if you really want it early.

OpenC
In terms of build I was always a pew pew magic user back in the day but have increasingly favoured a glass cannon type build with gigantic damage dealing sword and not much else, and will probably start off heading in that direction makes the games about positioning and timing which is my favourite way to play them and the reason that Sekiro didn't land for me Also a satisfying approach if you're not a purist non-summoning fanny @Mike Edited February 23, 2022 by OpenC
OpenC
Well, Prima Games seem to like it, for whatever that's worth. N-O isn't letting me paste the link though, so you'll have to find it for yourself pure hates Android, this forum

OpenC
Aye, was a good review. Negatives were that the catacombs could be samey (no surprise in open worlds) and that the reused bosses got dull (no surprise, I forget how many times we've seen the Asylum Demon and Juzou the Drunkard). OpenC
Just a bit too much Space Channel Shinobi rhythm game action for my tastes R1 - (wait) - R1 - R1 - L1 - R1 - (wait). Constantly heard Ulala going chu chu chu in my head while I played it Long as this is a masterpiece too, I'll magnanimously forgive them their prior indiscretion
